Over
the first holiday weekend alone, the airline expects to welcome 186,000
passengers through Frankfurt Airport. This summer, Lufthansa is operating
flights to 211 destinations from Frankfurt: 140 within Germany and Europe, and
71 intercontinental.
Among
European travellers, the most popular destinations include Portugal, Greece,
France, Italy, and Scandinavia. For long-haul travel, Windhoek, Rio de Janeiro,
São Paulo, Bogotá, Seattle, and Los Angeles are in particularly high demand.
Improved
Punctuality and Operational Stability
Lufthansa’s
on-time performance has seen significant improvement. Ranked fifth among
European network carriers last summer, the airline is now among the top three.
For arrival punctuality — a key metric for travellers — Lufthansa ranked first
this spring.
“A
stable and punctual flight operation is essential to customer satisfaction,”
said Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines. “Despite a challenging economic
environment, we invested €200 million to stabilize operations — and those
investments are now paying off for both our guests and our employees.
Lufthansa’s punctuality is currently the best it has been in a decade.”
Enhancing
the Travel Experience
Beyond
flight operations, Lufthansa has invested heavily in upgrading its customer
experience. From enhanced in-flight catering and lounge services to the rollout
of the new Allegris long-haul cabin concept, customer satisfaction is trending
positively.
Lufthansa
was recently awarded the title of World’s Most Family-Friendly Airline at the
2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards. In addition, its First Class Terminal in
Frankfurt earned the award for World’s Best First Class Lounge.
Digital
Services for a Stress-Free Start
Lufthansa
continues to expand its suite of digital tools to help travellers enjoy a
smoother journey. The Lufthansa app — named the World’s Best Airline App — now
allows users to upload passports during check-in and verify ESTA travel
authorisations. It also offers live updates, gate information, and baggage
tracking via the “Live Activity” function.
New
Baggage Pick-Up and Check-In Service
A
new partnership with tech provider AirPortr offers travellers departing from
Frankfurt an innovative luggage solution: baggage can now be picked up from
home or hotel, sealed, transported to the airport, and checked in — all without
the traveller needing to carry it to the terminal. Guests receive real-time
tracking and a digital baggage receipt, allowing them to head directly to
security and travel more comfortably.
“Lufthansa
is excited to bring our guests to their summer holiday destinations,” said Jens
Ritter. “After a strong performance during Easter and Pentecost, we are ready
for the peak season. Our teams on board and on the ground are doing an
outstanding job ensuring a reliable, comfortable, and enjoyable travel
experience.”
