IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to accelerate its
expansion across Greater China during the second half of 2026 with a series of
hotel openings spanning luxury, lifestyle, premium and essential brands. The
new properties will open in major gateway cities, transport hubs and leisure
destinations, reflecting the group's strategy of serving a broad range of
business and leisure travellers while further strengthening its presence across
the region.
Expansion continues across key markets
"Greater China remains one of the most important
and dynamic markets for IHG globally," said Daniel Aylmer, Chief Executive
Officer, IHG Greater China. "Our continued development in the region
reflects the long-term strength of our multi-brand portfolio and our close
partnerships with hotel owners. Each opening contributes to the ongoing
evolution of our presence across key markets, as we continue to focus on
delivering relevant and consistent experiences for guests across different
travel needs."
IHG currently operates 14 brands in Greater China,
with more than 1,500 hotels already open or in the pipeline across more than
200 cities.
New hotels strengthen gateway cities
Among the most significant openings are the
InterContinental Shenzhen ICSZ (International Communication Center Shenzhen),
InterContinental Taipei and Holiday Inn Shanghai NECC (National Exhibition and
Convention Center).
The company will also add several Holiday Inn Express
properties in Shenzhen Bay, Shanghai North Bund Riverside and Beijing Daxing
Xihongmen.
These hotels are designed to strengthen IHG's presence
in high-traffic business centres and transport-connected locations while
meeting growing demand from corporate travellers, convention delegates and
short-stay guests.
Lifestyle brands continue to grow
IHG will also expand its portfolio of lifestyle and
conversion-focused brands.
New Garner Hotels are scheduled to open in Chongqing
Jiefangbei and Wuxi Qingming Bridge, further developing the group's conversion
strategy by offering flexible solutions for hotel owners while maintaining
consistent brand standards.
The Atwell brand will continue its expansion with new
properties in Guangzhou Pazhou, Nanjing Xinjiekou and Hangzhou Wulin. Located
in vibrant urban districts, these hotels are designed to meet growing domestic
demand for experience-led accommodation with a strong local identity.
Destination hotels celebrate local culture
Several upcoming openings place a strong emphasis on
destination experiences, cultural heritage and wellness.
Kimpton Nine Trees Shanghai will introduce a
design-led lifestyle concept in one of Shanghai's emerging cultural districts,
combining contemporary hospitality with the city's growing creative scene.
New Hotel Indigo properties in Jingdezhen Taoxichuan
and Quanzhou Ancient Town will draw inspiration from local history and culture,
integrating regional identity into both design and guest experiences.
IHG will also open Crowne Plaza Suzhou Taihu Lake,
strengthening its presence in one of eastern China's leading leisure
destinations.
Meanwhile, EVEN Hotel Jingdezhen Taoxichuan will
introduce the group's wellness-focused concept to the market, responding to
increasing demand for travel experiences centred on health, wellbeing and
balanced lifestyles.
Diverse portfolio supports changing travel demand
The latest openings reflect IHG's strategy of offering
hotels across multiple market segments, from luxury and lifestyle brands to
premium and essential accommodation. By expanding in business centres,
transport hubs, cultural destinations and leisure markets alike, the group aims
to meet the evolving needs of both domestic and international travellers while
reinforcing its long-term growth strategy in Greater China.
