Wego and Tourism Malaysia have formed a strategic
partnership to encourage more travellers from the Middle East and North Africa
(MENA) to discover Malaysia ahead of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. Through
a series of targeted marketing initiatives and destination-focused content, the
partners aim to showcase the country's rich mix of culture, nature, gastronomy,
wellness and family-friendly attractions.
Showcasing Malaysia's diverse experiences
The collaboration will highlight destinations across
the country, from the vibrant cityscape of Kuala Lumpur and the historic
streets of George Town to the beaches of Langkawi, the rainforests of Sabah and
Sarawak, and Malaysia's internationally recognised culinary scene.
The campaign is designed to encourage travellers to
explore a broader range of experiences, including cultural holidays, nature
adventures, wellness retreats and family vacations.
Growing appeal among MENA travellers
Malaysia continues to rank among the most popular
long-haul destinations for travellers from the MENA region. Its multicultural
heritage, year-round festivals, lively night markets and diverse landscapes
allow visitors to combine multiple travel experiences within a single trip.
Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, said:
"Malaysia has consistently ranked among the most sought-after destinations
for travellers from the MENA region, and for good reason. The country offers a
remarkable combination of culture, nature, gastronomy and leisure that few
destinations can match. Through our partnership with Tourism Malaysia, we are
committed to inspiring travellers to look beyond the well-known highlights and
discover the full depth of what Malaysia has to offer, whether that's a family
beach break, a rainforest adventure, a cultural city tour, or simply some of
the best food in the world."
Supporting Visit Malaysia 2026
Zaidi Kassim, Director of Tourism Malaysia, Jeddah,
welcomed the new partnership, saying: "Malaysia's diversity is its
greatest strength, from our vibrant cities and UNESCO-listed heritage sites to
our tropical islands, ancient rainforests and world-class cuisine. We are
delighted to partner with Wego, a platform that reaches millions of travellers
across the MENA region, to bring Malaysia's story to a wider audience.
Together, we look forward to welcoming more visitors from the Middle East and
sharing the warmth, richness and spirit of hospitality that defines the
Malaysian experience."
Inspiring future travel
Through curated travel content, destination insights
and targeted promotional campaigns, Wego and Tourism Malaysia aim to convert
travel inspiration into bookings while strengthening tourism flows between
Malaysia and the Middle East. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to
position Malaysia as one of Southeast Asia's leading destinations ahead of
Visit Malaysia 2026.
