TAT’s CF-Hotels Platform Wins Green Leadership Award at AREA 2026

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has received the Green Leadership Award at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2026 for its Carbon Footprint Hotels (CF-Hotels) platform. The regional recognition underscores Thailand’s commitment to advancing low-carbon tourism by helping accommodation providers measure, manage and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions through a practical digital system.

Digital platform supports hotels on the path to sustainability

Developed for hotels and accommodation providers across Thailand, the CF-Hotels platform combines carbon management, digital data, market incentives and access to green finance in a single system. It enables businesses to monitor their environmental performance while strengthening their competitiveness and preparing for internationally recognised sustainability standards.

“This award reflects TAT’s role as a system orchestrator for sustainable tourism, connecting digital data, carbon management, market incentives, and green finance in one practical platform. CF-Hotels enables hotels to take measurable action, strengthen competitiveness, and contribute to TAT’s direction in advancing quality tourism that creates long-term value, while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and aligning with the Paris Agreement,” said Kittipong Prapattong, TAT Deputy Governor for Digitalisation, Research and Development.

Linking carbon reduction with green finance

Organised by Enterprise Asia, the AREA Awards recognise outstanding achievements in corporate social responsibility, environmental stewardship and sustainable development across the region. The 2026 awards ceremony took place on 26 June in Malaysia.

The CF-Hotels platform provides accommodation businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, with free access to internationally aligned tools for collecting and assessing greenhouse gas data. Through cooperation with the Bank of Thailand and nine commercial banks under the “Financing the Transition” initiative, participating hotels can also connect their environmental performance with green financing opportunities.

The platform further supports compliance with international sustainability frameworks, including ISO 14064-1 and GSTC-related standards, making carbon management more accessible and commercially relevant.

Rapid nationwide growth

Since becoming publicly available in 2024, the CF-Hotels platform has expanded from an initial group of 21 pilot hotels to more than 900 registered hotel accounts across Thailand.

Participating properties have collectively reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 16,838.79 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, an environmental impact comparable to planting more than 1.2 million mature trees. In addition, the initiative has mobilised more than 29.3 million Baht through the ThaiCI Fund to support the hotel sector's transition towards low-carbon operations.
