IHG
Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies,
continues its growth in Germany with the signing of Holiday Inn Ratingen, in
the wider Düsseldorf area, in partnership with multi hotel operator tristar
GmbH. After a full renovation, expected to open in the second half of 2025, the
hotel will further expand IHG’s presence in secondary markets across Germany by
offering Holiday Inn’s warm welcome and consistent experiences in a new
location. The hotel represents a conversion from an existing hotel showcasing
the conversion-ability of Holiday Inn and its adaptability to changing market
environments.
Staying
true to the Holiday Inn brand, leisure and business travellers alike will find
amenities to help them make connections, work and play, including a
full-service restaurant offering the brand’s much-loved ‘Kids Stay & Eat
Free’ programme, a bar, and five meeting rooms - ideal for social gatherings
and corporate meetings. The hotel will also feature the brand’s Open Lobby
hallmark, a design-led and versatile space where guests can choose how they
connect and relax.
Located
in the scenic town of Ratingen, guests staying at the 134-room hotel will be in
close proximity to numerous attractions and corporate settlements. Guests will
also be a short drive away from Düsseldorf, Germany’s fashion capital, where
they can explore the renowned Königsallee shopping boulevard, as well as
Düsseldorf Altstadt (Old Town), and Kunstpalast art museum.
Willemijn
Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We
are delighted to strengthen our partnership with tristar GmbH – one of our
longest-standing and valued partners in Northern Europe. The signing of Holiday
Inn Ratingen marks our 33rd hotel together and is testament to our shared
vision of sustainable growth across Germany, Austria and Switzerland for both
domestic and international travellers.
The
Holiday Inn family brand presents enormous global growth potential as we
continue to see the expansion of the middle class and a renewed excitement to
travel once again. With all IHG brands, including Holiday Inn, being
conversion-ready, we can help our partners capitalise on this growing class, by
enabling them to quickly benefit from IHG’s powerful technology and revenue
systems, operational expertise and loyalty offer.”
Jochen
Weishaupt, Managing Director at tristar GmbH, said: “We are excited to partner
once again with IHG Hotels & Resorts, to bring one of the most recognised
and much-loved hotel brands to a new location in Germany. My special thanks go
to our landlord, LEG, and their trust in our company. We look forward to a
promising future together and to offering our guests a unique hotel experience
very soon.”
Kevin
Hain, Head of Commercial Property Management, LEG Immobilien SE, said: “Thanks
to IHG’s exponential growth in Germany, it is well on its way to becoming a
leading player in the midscale and upper midscale segments in the country. I
would especially like to thank our new business partner tristar GmbH and look
forward to a trusting and successful collaboration. I am confident that Holiday
Inn Ratingen will be well received by both domestic and international
travellers looking for comfortable, convenient accommodation in the wider
Dusseldorf area.”
As
of Q3 2024, IHG Hotels & Resorts has 220* open and pipeline hotels in
Germany, with more than 140* of these properties under the Holiday Inn Brand
Family. In recent months, Germany has also welcomed the Garner hotels, IHG’s
new brand in the midscale conversion space, and will see the arrival of
Candlewood Suites later this year.
