Celebrating
50 Years of the German Fairy Tale Route
Developed
as part of the anniversary campaign for the German Fairy Tale Route, Grimm’s
Quest makes the regions along this holiday route virtually accessible to
potential travellers around the globe. Five of the best-known Grimm fairy tales
– Little Red Riding Hood, The Frog King, Rapunzel, Snow White, and Hansel and
Gretel – have been reimagined as digital mini-games.
Petra
Hedorfer, Chief Executive Officer of the GNTB, commented:
“Digital
solutions play a central role in the GNTB’s global marketing. They allow us to
reach new target groups and inspire enthusiasm for an actual journey to
Germany. This includes interactive gaming applications like Grimm’s Quest, as
well as the use of virtual and mixed reality, for example in our new UNESCO
app. The global trend towards gamification enables us to present tourism
products such as the Fairy Tale Route in an attractive way for a
gaming-oriented audience, thereby extending our reach.”
Interactive
Storytelling Without an App Download
Grimm’s
Quest invites international travellers to explore the magical worlds of Grimm’s
fairy tales through playful digital storytelling – emotional, interactive, and
accessible directly online without requiring an app download. Specially
designed 3D fairy-tale characters in papercraft style guide players across an
illustrated map, offering thematically curated travel tips along the way.
The
game has been actively promoted since its launch in March 2025 across
international social media channels including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram,
TikTok, as well as on China-specific platforms. It is available via a dedicated
microsite at www.germany.travel/grimms-quest.
Cross-media elements such as QR codes ensure seamless access to the Fairy Tale
Route and to further content on www.germany.travel.
