Thailand welcomed more than 2,000 top-performing
travel professionals from around the world during Flight Centre Global
Gathering: Bangkok 2026, held from 10 to 12 July. Supported by the Tourism
Authority of Thailand (TAT), the event highlighted the country's growing
importance as a premium leisure destination and a leading host for
international meetings and incentive travel.
Bringing together frontline travel consultants,
executives and business leaders from Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG), the
annual gathering offered delegates first-hand experiences of Thailand’s
culture, wellness, gastronomy and hospitality while strengthening relationships
between international travel sellers and the Thai tourism industry.
Thailand promotes high-value tourism
“Flight Centre Global Gathering: Bangkok 2026 places
Thailand before high-performing travel professionals who influence destination
choices across international markets. This supports TAT’s Value over Volume
direction and our ‘Healing is the New Luxury’ approach by highlighting Health
and Wellness Tourism alongside culture, gastronomy, Thai hospitality, and
responsible travel, creating meaningful experiences, wider economic value, and
lasting benefits for local communities,” said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor
of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The event supports TAT’s strategy of attracting
higher-value travellers while promoting authentic experiences that benefit
local communities and encourage more sustainable tourism development.
Bangkok demonstrates its strengths as an international
host
As Flight Centre Travel Group’s flagship annual event,
the Global Gathering brought together high-performing travel advisors,
executives, support teams and business units from markets across the world.
Bangkok was selected as the host city thanks to its
excellent international air connectivity, well-established tourism
infrastructure, high hospitality standards and proven capability to stage
large-scale international events. Hosting the gathering also allowed Thailand
to present its tourism offering directly to travel professionals who influence
destination choices in key international markets.
Delegates experience Thai culture and hospitality
The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Sydney Office
coordinated support for the event in cooperation with Flight Centre Travel
Group and partners from the public and private sectors.
Registration and welcome activities at the Bangkok
Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park and Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit introduced
delegates to traditional Thai wellness experiences, including Nuat Thai, the
traditional Thai massage recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage,
alongside interactive cultural activities.
A networking luncheon at Baan Dusit Thani connected
more than 500 Flight Centre executives, global partners and Thai tourism
businesses, providing opportunities to strengthen commercial relationships and
showcase sustainable tourism products.
The conference programme continued at UOB Live,
followed by the Global Awards Dinner at Impact Arena, while Flight Fest at
Asiatique The Riverfront added a festive element to the event programme.
Sustainability and local experiences take centre stage
Delegates also explored Bangkok through curated tours
of Bang Rak, Yaowarat and Talat Noi, while another excursion introduced
participants to Muay Thai at Rajadamnern Stadium.
Responsible tourism formed an integral part of the
programme. A portion of the event’s registration fees will be donated to the
National Elephant Institute under Royal Patronage and the Thai Elephant
Conservation Center in Lampang Province, supporting elephant conservation
initiatives.
Long-term benefits for Thailand’s tourism industry
Flight Centre Global Gathering: Bangkok 2026 is
expected to generate approximately THB 262 million in tourism revenue.
Beyond its direct economic impact, the event further
strengthens Thailand’s visibility in long-haul markets, particularly Australia,
while deepening relationships with international travel professionals whose
recommendations play a significant role in shaping future travel demand.
