Caribbean and Mexico: Marriott expands wellness focus at all-inclusive resorts

Marriott International is expanding the wellness offering across its All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in the Caribbean and Mexico. The initiatives range from alcohol-free stays and beachfront yoga to spa treatments for children and programmes combining exercise, nutrition and relaxation.

The approach reflects a broader shift in holiday preferences as travellers increasingly look beyond traditional all-inclusive concepts centred on food, drinks and entertainment. Marriott is positioning wellness as part of the everyday resort experience, with individual properties interpreting the concept according to their location and target groups.

W Punta Cana introduces alcohol-free package

At W Punta Cana, Adult All-Inclusive in the Dominican Republic, guests can choose a Zero Proof Package designed for travellers who want an alcohol-free stay without giving up the wider all-inclusive experience.

The package includes unlimited non-alcoholic cocktails and a dedicated zero-proof beverage programme alongside access to the resort’s restaurants, entertainment and activities. It is available for stays of at least three nights.

W Punta Cana is the first all-inclusive resort worldwide operated under the W Hotels brand.

Isla Mujeres marks World Wellness Weekend

In Mexico, Almare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Isla Mujeres, will stage a dedicated programme for World Wellness Weekend from September 18 to 20.

Activities include yoga, a cacao ceremony, breathwork combined with a cold plunge, sound healing, exercise sessions by the sea and a cooking class focused on mindful nutrition. Healthy dishes are also available throughout the resort’s restaurants.

At The Westin Playa Vallarta, physical activity is combined with opportunities to explore the destination. Guests can use the Westin Run route, take cycling excursions through Marina Vallarta or participate in beachfront yoga, guided meditation and grounding rituals. The resort also operates the Heavenly Spa.

Cancun combines cabanas with seaside treatments

Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort takes a quieter approach to wellness. Private oceanfront cabanas provide space to relax overlooking the Caribbean, with personalised service available throughout the day.

Guests can also book massages by the sea without leaving their cabana, combining spa treatments with the beachfront setting.

Further west, Delta Hotels by Marriott Riviera Nayarit uses its natural surroundings as a central element of the experience. Located amid the mountains and tropical vegetation of Riviera Nayarit, the resort offers a Natural Pool, Lazy River and the Aqua Jungle & River experience alongside family-oriented aquatic areas.

Spa treatments designed for younger guests

Hacienda del Mar Los Cabos is extending the wellness concept to children and teenagers. Its Kids Spa Combo and Teens Spa Combo are designed for guests between six and 17 years old.

Treatments can include massages, facials, body scrubs, manicures and pedicures. The concept is intended to make spa experiences part of a family holiday rather than an exclusively adult activity.

Barbados resort combines activity and relaxation

At Waves Resort & Spa Barbados, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, wellness is more deeply integrated into the overall hotel concept. The property describes itself as Barbados’ first all-inclusive wellness boutique resort.

Its programme combines yoga, Pilates and guided beach walks with non-motorised water sports. Guests staying for three nights or longer also receive a complimentary spa treatment.

Across the portfolio, Marriott is using these different approaches to broaden the meaning of the all-inclusive holiday. Rather than treating wellness as a separate spa product, the group is increasingly incorporating movement, nutrition, relaxation and alcohol-free options into the wider resort experience.
