Radisson Hotel Group is bringing its Radisson RED
brand to Australia for the first time. The group has signed an agreement for
Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket, a new-build lifestyle hotel with 328 rooms
scheduled to open in 2029 at the southern end of Sydney’s Central Business
District.
The 31-storey tower will rise in Haymarket, around 200
metres from Central Station and close to Chinatown, Darling Harbour, the
International Convention Centre and Sydney’s emerging Tech Central district.
Sydney Airport is approximately 6.3 kilometres away.
First Radisson RED in Australia
The signing represents a further step in Radisson
Hotel Group’s expansion across Australasia. The company is developing its
regional portfolio through a combination of lifestyle and upper-upscale hotels,
resorts and conversion projects.
“The signing of Australia’s first Radisson RED marks
an important milestone in our Australasia expansion plan,” says Elie Younes,
Executive Vice President & Global Chief Development Officer at Radisson
Hotel Group. “Radisson RED is a distinctive brand that offers a relevant and
impactful proposition to both guests and owners.”
Radisson Hotel Group is partnering with Australian
developer Ceerose on the project.
Pool, restaurants and 218 square metres of meeting
space
Designed as an upper-upscale lifestyle hotel, Radisson
RED Sydney Haymarket will combine accommodation with dining, leisure and
business facilities. Plans include a restaurant, lobby café-bar and pool bar as
well as an outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre.
The hotel will also provide meeting rooms covering a
total of 218 square metres. A dedicated lounge for guests arriving before
check-in or departing after check-out is intended to provide additional
flexibility, particularly for international travellers.
The tower will overlook the historic Grand Clock Tower
and is expected to become a prominent addition to the skyline at the southern
gateway to Sydney’s CBD.
Haymarket combines transport links with Tech Central
The location places the hotel within walking distance
of several of Sydney’s major commercial, cultural and entertainment districts.
Central Station provides rail connections across the metropolitan area and
beyond, while the Haymarket light rail stop is also nearby.
Universities and Tech Central add an increasingly
important business and innovation component to the neighbourhood, while
Chinatown and Darling Harbour draw leisure visitors.
“Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket has been conceived as a
destination that reflects the energy and transformation taking place across
this part of Sydney,” says Edward Doueihi, Founder and Managing Director of
Ceerose. Its position near Central Station, Tech Central and major visitor and
business districts, he adds, creates “a compelling opportunity for a new
lifestyle hotel.”
Radisson RED targets design-focused urban travellers
Radisson RED combines contemporary design with
informal service and a focus on social spaces, music and art. The Sydney
property will bring that concept to a district undergoing significant
transformation around Central Station and Tech Central.
For Radisson Hotel Group, the signing also strengthens
its development pipeline in Australasia as the company seeks further
opportunities in major urban centres and leisure destinations.
