SWISS Launches Direct Flights from Zurich to Bengaluru
The airline now serves three destinations in India, with five weekly nonstop flights to the country's major technology and business hub in southern India
SWISS Launches Direct Flights from Zurich to Bengaluru

SWISS has inaugurated its new nonstop service between Zurich and Bengaluru, expanding its long-haul network in India. The first flight, LX140, departed Zurich at 1:34 p.m., marking the launch of a route that will operate five times a week. Bengaluru becomes the airline's third Indian destination alongside Delhi and Mumbai, strengthening direct air connections between Switzerland and one of Asia's major technology and innovation centres.

The new service is designed to accommodate several travel segments, including corporate travellers, passengers visiting friends and relatives, and tourists exploring southern India. For Swiss businesses with commercial interests in India, the direct connection provides an additional travel option to a city known for its technology industry and international business community.

The route also expands opportunities for leisure travellers. While Bengaluru is primarily recognised as a business destination, it can serve as a starting point for journeys through southern India. The new nonstop flights allow passengers departing from Zurich to reach the region without a connecting flight at another Indian or international airport.

Bengaluru Strengthens SWISS's Indian Network

The addition of Bengaluru represents a further step in SWISS's long-haul network development. With Delhi and Mumbai already served, the airline is extending its presence to another major economic centre in India.

Bengaluru's importance as a technology and innovation hub makes the route particularly relevant for business travel. At the same time, the service creates additional opportunities for personal travel and tourism between the two countries.

SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger highlighted the broader economic significance of the connection during the inaugural flight:

“With Bengaluru, we are launching more than just a new flight route. We are creating new opportunities for our guests, for Swiss companies, and for Switzerland as a business location. India is a market with enormous potential, and Bengaluru is one of Asia's leading technology and innovation hubs. Alongside Delhi and Mumbai, Bengaluru is our third destination in India. We are making a targeted investment in the growth of our long-haul network while also strengthening Switzerland's international connectivity. In an increasingly interconnected world, personal encounters and direct exchanges are more important than ever.”

The airline had announced its plans to introduce the Bengaluru service in May. The inaugural departure now marks the transition from the announced network expansion to scheduled flight operations.

New Opportunities for Southern India Travel

Beyond its commercial importance, Bengaluru offers visitors access to a diverse urban environment and opportunities to explore the surrounding region. The city combines a modern business landscape with cultural attractions, restaurants and neighbourhoods that reflect different aspects of contemporary Indian life.

To accompany the route launch, SWISS has published destination features in its travel magazine. One introduces Bengaluru through the perspective of Indian actress Nidhhi Agerwal, who presents different aspects of her hometown.

A second feature focuses on short visits, highlighting five places that business travellers can explore during a 48-hour stay. The editorial content is intended to introduce the destination to passengers who may know Bengaluru primarily through its business and technology sectors.

For the travel industry, the new route adds another nonstop option between Europe and southern India. It also creates opportunities for itineraries combining Bengaluru with other destinations in the region, particularly for travellers who wish to extend a business trip or explore southern India independently.

With five weekly departures, SWISS is establishing a regular connection between Zurich and Bengaluru while reinforcing its wider presence in the Indian market. The new service reflects the airline's continued investment in international connectivity and the growing importance of India within its long-haul network.
