Spain is expected to have approximately 9.1 million seats available on international flights in November 2026, representing a 1.3% increase compared with the same month last year. According to the latest air capacity report published by Turespaña, the overall expansion is relatively modest, but developments across individual source markets reveal considerable differences.
The figures indicate that airlines are increasing their scheduled capacity from several emerging and growing markets while reducing available seats from some of Spain’s largest traditional European source countries. The United Kingdom, Germany and France are all expected to record year-on-year declines, whereas Italy continues to expand strongly.
Poland stands out with particularly rapid growth, while Mexico is recording a substantial increase in scheduled capacity from Latin America. The contrasting trends suggest that Spain’s international air connectivity is developing unevenly across its source markets as the winter travel season begins.
Italy and Poland Lead European Growth
Among Spain’s major European source markets, Italy is expected to record one of the strongest increases in November, with scheduled airline seat capacity rising by 12.5% compared with November 2025.
Poland continues to demonstrate even faster growth. Airlines are planning more than 29% additional capacity from the Polish market, maintaining the strong expansion highlighted in previous Turespaña reports.
Türkiye is also contributing to the increase in international connectivity, with scheduled capacity growing by 6.3% year on year.
These developments contrast with the outlook for three of Spain’s most important established European markets. Scheduled airline capacity from the United Kingdom is expected to decline by 2.6%, while Germany records a decrease of 2.0%. France shows the sharpest reduction among the three, at 5.7%.
The differences are particularly relevant for Spain’s tourism industry, as the British, German and French markets traditionally account for a substantial share of international travel demand. However, the scheduled capacity figures alone do not establish whether actual visitor numbers will follow the same pattern.
Mexico Records Strongest Latin American Expansion
Outside Europe, Mexico stands out among the Ibero-American markets covered by the report. It accounts for the largest volume of scheduled airline seats in this group for November and is expected to register a 22.1% year-on-year increase.
The expansion indicates a significant strengthening of scheduled air connectivity between Mexico and Spain, potentially creating additional opportunities for tourism and travel between the two countries.
The United States is also expected to record growth, although at a considerably slower pace. Scheduled seat capacity from the American market is projected to increase by 3.4% compared with November 2025.
Overall, Turespaña’s figures point to a broadly stable international air capacity outlook for Spain, accompanied by notable changes in the geographical distribution of available seats.
The report measures scheduled airline capacity rather than confirmed passenger bookings or actual arrivals. Consequently, the 1.3% overall increase should be interpreted as an indicator of planned air connectivity, not as a forecast of equivalent growth in international tourist arrivals.
