Seabourn has opened bookings for its 2028–2029
expedition voyages, presenting an expanded programme that places a stronger
emphasis on Arctic exploration and remote regions. A total of 49 departures
ranging from eight to 96 days will visit more than 180 destinations in 29
countries, operated by the expedition ships Seabourn Venture and Seabourn
Pursuit.
The new season coincides with Seabourn’s 40th
anniversary and includes the return of the Grand Expedition: Pole to Pole.
Across the programme, itineraries are designed to maximise time in nature,
combining Zodiac excursions, guided landings, kayaking and expert-led
enrichment.
“As Seabourn approaches its 40th anniversary, our
2028–2029 expedition season is designed for travellers who want to explore the
world’s most remote places in a deeper and more meaningful way,” said Mark
Tamis, president of Seabourn. “From the return of our Grand Expedition: Pole to
Pole to a broader Arctic programme, these voyages reflect our commitment to
pairing purposeful exploration with the service and luxury experience our
guests expect.”
Pole to Pole: a 96-day flagship journey
A central highlight of the season is the second Grand
Expedition: Pole to Pole, departing on 17 August 2028. The 96-day voyage will
sail from Reykjavik to Ushuaia, covering more than 20,500 nautical miles across
147 degrees of latitude, linking the High Arctic with Antarctica in one
continuous journey.
The itinerary includes expedition experiences in 14
countries and territories, with extended stays in Antarctica, South Georgia and
the Falkland Islands. Guests will encounter a wide range of wildlife, from
polar bears and beluga whales in the north to penguins and seabirds in the
southern hemisphere. The voyage also crosses the Equator as well as both
tropics and offers onboard experiences such as Northern Lights viewing in
Arctic waters.
Travellers can choose between the full 96-day
itinerary or a shortened 82-day option joining later. Both formats include
expedition landings, guided activities and Seabourn’s signature onboard
services.
Expanded Arctic programme and new itineraries
The Arctic takes a central role in the 2028 season,
with both expedition ships deployed in the region between April and September.
The programme covers Svalbard, Greenland, Iceland, Arctic Canada and the
Northwest Passage, offering more sailings than in previous years.
New itineraries include routes linking Greenland and
Newfoundland, explorations of the Torngat Mountains in northern Labrador, and
voyages to Baffin Island and Ellesmere Island. Round-trip departures from
Reykjavik further enhance accessibility, while extended daylight hours and
favourable ice conditions are used to maximise exploration opportunities.
Antarctica and remote southern regions
From October 2028 to March 2029, Seabourn shifts its
focus to the southern hemisphere. Voyages between 10 and 25 days explore
Antarctica, South Georgia, the Falkland Islands and the Chilean fjords.
Seasonal timing allows guests to experience varying wildlife activity, from
early penguin courtship to peak whale sightings later in the austral summer.
New routes include a 23-day itinerary combining the
Juan Fernández Islands, the Chilean fjords and Antarctica, alongside expanded
programming in South Georgia and additional landing opportunities, subject to
conditions.
Exploration combined with luxury
Across all itineraries, Seabourn emphasises a
combination of expedition travel and high-end onboard experience. Spacious
suites, premium dining and curated enrichment programmes are complemented by
expedition features such as Zodiac tours, guided hikes and specialised
equipment.
With its expanded Arctic focus, new itineraries and
the return of its flagship Pole-to-Pole journey, Seabourn positions the
2028–2029 season as a milestone year that deepens its presence in the
expedition cruise segment while building on its long-standing exploration
heritage.
