The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has
partnered with Hong Kong travel platform Flyday HK to launch the new
"MACAO, GET, SET, GLOW 2026" campaign, designed to encourage visitors
to discover the destination beyond its best-known attractions.
Built around the slogan "Run Beyond the
Landmarks. Discover Another Side of Macao," the initiative combines
running experiences with urban exploration, inviting travelers to experience
the city's neighborhoods, heritage and local culture through themed jogging
routes.
Eight themed routes for different fitness levels
Responding to the growing trend of combining sports
with travel, the campaign features eight running routes across four themes,
suitable for beginners, intermediate runners and experienced participants.
The routes focus on gastronomy, heritage, local
communities and scenic landscapes. Participants are guided through traditional
markets, historic districts, residential neighborhoods and coastal areas,
highlighting experiences that extend beyond Macau's major tourist attractions.
The campaign is supported by influencers and content
creators from Hong Kong and international markets, who will promote the routes
across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, Xiaohongshu
and YouTube.
Digital engagement and on-site participation
Visitors are encouraged to participate both online and
on the ground. An online voting campaign allows the public to support their
favorite influencer-created routes, while an offline running challenge rewards
participants who complete designated courses and share photos from selected
landmarks. Successful participants can receive promotional gifts, including
vouchers from Marathon Sports.
The campaign also includes a series of short street
interviews with local residents, featuring a Macanese chef, the owner of a
century-old local business and a local runner. Through personal stories, they
introduce visitors to Macau's food culture, running routes and neighborhood
life.
Focus on community tourism
To strengthen local economic benefits, the campaign
also includes a partnership with electronic payment platform AlipayHK.
Campaign vouchers will be distributed through the
AlipayHK app, where visitors can also earn A.Point rewards for purchases made
in Macau. By encouraging travelers to spend more time and money in residential
neighborhoods, the initiative aims to support local businesses while promoting
sustainable and community-based tourism.
