Ryanair launches record Summer 2026 schedule for Emilia-Romagna

Ryanair has unveiled its largest-ever Summer 2026 schedule for Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, offering more than 5.3 million seats, a 5% increase compared with the previous summer. The expansion follows the regional government's decision to abolish the €6.50 municipal passenger tax at the airports of Forlì, Parma and Rimini from 1 January 2026, paving the way for significant growth in passenger traffic, new routes and employment.

Nine new routes and stronger regional connectivity

The airline expects to carry more than 700,000 passengers through the three regional airports, representing growth of over 50%. Ryanair's Summer 2026 programme includes 83 routes across Emilia-Romagna, comprising 63 services from Bologna, three from Forlì, five from Parma and 12 from Rimini.

The schedule features nine new routes, including services from Bologna to Castellón, from Forlì to Cagliari and London Stansted, from Parma to Tirana, Reggio Calabria and London Stansted, and from Rimini to Wroclaw, Manchester, Cologne and Catania.

Overall, Ryanair expects to transport more than seven million passengers annually across the region, while the regional airports will benefit from more than 250,000 additional seats per year and support over 445 jobs.

Tax reform drives airline investment

According to Ryanair, the abolition of the municipal passenger tax has enabled the airline to rebalance its growth strategy across Emilia-Romagna by strengthening services at the emerging airports of Forlì, Parma and Rimini while maintaining a record schedule at Bologna. The airline says the expansion will improve year-round connectivity and support tourism throughout the region.

Emilia-Romagna becomes the fifth Italian region, after Abruzzo, Calabria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Sicily, to abolish the municipal passenger tax.

Ryanair calls for nationwide reform

Ryanair is urging the Italian Government to extend the abolition of the municipal passenger tax to all Italian airports. The airline says such a move would unlock a major expansion programme, including the addition of 40 aircraft, a US$4 billion investment, 20 million extra passengers annually, 250 new routes and the creation of 15,000 new jobs.

To mark the launch of its record Summer 2026 schedule, Ryanair has introduced a promotional seat sale with fares from €29.99, available for booking through the Ryanair app, subject to availability.
