Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Green Rock have signed a
franchise agreement for Hyatt Regency Dilijan, marking the first Hyatt Regency
hotel in Armenia. The agreement expands Hyatt’s premium full-service portfolio
in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and was announced during a groundbreaking
ceremony attended by representatives of the Armenian government, Hyatt and
Green Rock.
The hotel is planned with 205 guestrooms and suites, a
broad range of dining venues, family entertainment facilities and a
purpose-built conference centre. Dilijan lies around 90 minutes by road from
Yerevan and approximately three and a half hours from Tbilisi. A rooftop
helipad is also intended to improve access for domestic and international
guests.
Part of a broader destination development
Known for its mountain scenery, cultural heritage and
surrounding national parks, Dilijan has developed into a year-round destination
for leisure travel, business trips and events.
Hyatt Regency Dilijan will form part of Green Rock’s
wider development concept for the area. The project also includes hospitality
education initiatives, community spaces, restaurants and future cultural
attractions such as a music hall and an art park.
The hotel is expected to strengthen Dilijan’s position
as one of Armenia’s leading mountain resort and conference destinations while
contributing to the region’s continued tourism growth.
“We are excited to bring the Hyatt Regency brand to
Dilijan and this announcement marks an exciting milestone for both Green Rock
and Armenia,” said Katerina Danekina, CEO of Green Rock.
“Together with Hyatt, we aim to create more than a
hotel – we aim to help shape a destination that will attract visitors
year-round while supporting tourism, culture and the local community.”
Conference centre for more than 550 guests
The hotel will be part of a 43,000-square-metre
complex featuring restaurants and bars, retail outlets and family entertainment
facilities, including two cinemas.
A 3,000-square-metre wellness centre is planned with a
full-service spa, fitness facilities and an outdoor swimming pool. The
conference centre is expected to accommodate more than 550 guests, allowing the
hotel to host larger conferences, corporate meetings, weddings and social
events throughout the year.
“We look forward to introducing the Hyatt Regency
brand to Armenia through this collaboration with Green Rock,” said Ludwig
Bouldoukian, Regional Vice President Development, Middle East and Africa at
Hyatt.
“Dilijan has tremendous long-term potential and the
Hyatt Regency brand, with its premium full-service offering, is ideally
positioned to support the destination as a leading location for leisure travel,
meetings and events.”
More than 400 jobs expected
The development is expected to create more than 400
jobs in areas including hotel operations, food and beverage, wellness, events
and engineering.
Hyatt currently operates more than 245 Hyatt Regency
hotels in over 50 countries. Further details on the construction schedule and
planned opening date of Hyatt Regency Dilijan will be announced as the project
progresses.
