American Airlines has resumed flight operations after
a brief technology outage disrupted several internal systems and led to a
temporary nationwide ground stop on Tuesday evening.
The airline said the issue affected connectivity
across parts of its network but that systems were restored shortly afterwards,
allowing flights to resume.
Temporary ground stop
To address the problem, American Airlines temporarily
halted departures across the United States while technical teams worked to
restore affected systems.
"We put a temporary ground stop in place while
our teams worked to resolve the issue. We apologize to our customers for the
inconvenience," the airline said in a statement on X.
Earlier, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
confirmed that all American Airlines flights that had not yet departed were
temporarily grounded because of the outage.
Cause not disclosed
American Airlines has not revealed what caused the
technology disruption.
Although the interruption was short-lived, it
temporarily affected flight departures across the carrier's US network before
normal operations resumed.
