Luxury travel demand remains strong as bookings shift toward 2027

Luxury travel demand continues to gain momentum as travellers plan well ahead for 2027 and beyond. According to U.S.-based travel agency Pavlus Travel & Cruise, bookings for high-end holidays remain exceptionally strong, with clients increasingly choosing more exclusive experiences, longer itineraries and multiple future trips.

"The business outlook for the remainder of 2026 and heading toward 2027 looks quite positive," said Craig S. Pavlus, Founder and CEO of Pavlus Travel & Cruise. "It's shaping up to be a record-breaking year."

Travellers upgrade to luxury experiences

One of the strongest trends is the growing number of travellers moving from premium holidays to luxury and ultra-luxury travel. The agency also reports that many clients are booking two or more future vacations at the same time, reflecting strong confidence in long-term travel plans.

Travel suppliers are responding by releasing 2028 and even 2029 itineraries earlier than usual, giving customers a wider choice of destinations and experiences.

Asia leads destination demand

Japan is emerging as one of the most sought-after destinations for 2027, particularly during the spring and autumn seasons. Strong demand is also being recorded for luxury cruises across Asia, while Australia and New Zealand continue to attract travellers planning holidays for late 2027 and 2028.

North America, especially Alaska, and Western Europe also remain popular choices.

Expedition cruises and multigenerational travel gain momentum

Luxury expedition cruises continue to attract travellers looking to combine adventure with premium comfort. Smaller expedition ships are increasingly appealing because they can access remote destinations while offering high-end onboard experiences.

At the same time, multigenerational travel is evolving, with grandparents and parents increasingly investing in once-in-a-lifetime holidays for the entire family rather than leaving those funds as inheritance.

Longer holidays and new ships drive bookings

Demand is also growing for extended travel experiences, including world cruises, grand voyages and combinations of cruises with escorted land tours or longer destination stays.

Interest in newly launched luxury ships remains high, with travellers already booking voyages aboard the latest vessels entering service in 2026 and looking ahead to new ships scheduled to debut in the coming years.
