IndiGo, Delta, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic Announce Strategic Partnership
This
alliance aims to provide seamless connectivity between dozens of cities across
India, the U.S., Canada, and Europe. By combining IndiGo’s expansive domestic
network with Delta’s and Virgin Atlantic’s strong transatlantic presence and
Air France-KLM’s European and North American reach, the group intends to offer
a more integrated travel experience for international passengers.
IndiGo
CEO Pieter Elbers called the partnership “a milestone” in IndiGo’s path toward
becoming a global airline by 2030, enabling long-haul expansion and enhanced
intercontinental access. Delta CEO Ed Bastian emphasized the partnership’s role
in making global travel “more connected and accessible,” noting plans to resume
nonstop service between Atlanta and Delhi.
Air
France-KLM CEO Benjamin Smith highlighted India’s strategic importance, while
Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss pointed to the improved travel experience and
loyalty benefits for customers across all four carriers.
The
collaboration builds on IndiGo’s existing codeshare agreements with Air
France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic and supports its upcoming long-haul services
with Boeing 787s and future Airbus A350s. KLM’s new Amsterdam–Hyderabad route
launching in September 2025 will further expand joint offerings.
The
MoU also outlines future cooperation in areas such as loyalty programs, cargo,
ground services, sustainability, and shared technology—pending regulatory
approvals.
