This
marks a 3.7% increase from the previous year while maintaining a 99.9% baggage
handling success rate at its Dubai hub, positioning Emirates as the top airline
worldwide for baggage efficiency.
Exceptional
Baggage Handling Performance
Emirates’
rate of baggage mishandling at its Dubai hub remains exceptionally low, with
only 1.4 mishandled bags per 1,000 – nearly 30 times lower than other carriers.
In cases of unavoidable delays, 91% of delayed bags are reunited with their
owners within 72 hours. Additionally, Emirates’ Lost and Found team has a 94%
recovery rate for valuable items within 60 minutes, thanks to proactive efforts
and dedicated staff.
Innovative
Baggage Tracking Technology
Emirates’
commitment to innovation is exemplified by Emirates Bag Connect, launched in
2024. Available via the Emirates app and website, this tool allows passengers
to track their baggage journey in real-time, including updates on mishandled
bag delivery at 80 stations across the network.
At
Dubai International (DXB) Terminal 3, Emirates handles 2,300 untagged bags per
month, recovering 80% of them before flight departure through collaboration
with dnata teams. On rare occasions of delays due to weather or missed
connections, Emirates ensures that bags are automatically loaded onto the next
available flight.
Best-in-Class
Systems and Training
Emirates
attributes its success to robust, high-tech systems developed through
multimillion-dollar investments. From check-in to final delivery, bags pass
through a complex yet efficient process involving automated systems, security
scans, and collaboration between Emirates, dnata, and Dubai Airports.
Continuous staff training ensures that ground handlers and operational teams
are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
"As
the world's largest international airline, our commitment to innovation and
excellence in baggage handling is unwavering. We aim to provide seamless travel
experiences for our passengers, maintaining our status as a leader in global
aviation," said an Emirates spokesperson.
