Dusit
International has officially launched its first hotel in Malaysia with the
grand opening of Dusit Princess Melaka on 29 May 2025. Strategically located in
the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage City, the 296-room upscale property
introduces Thai-inspired gracious hospitality to Melaka and establishes one of
the city’s largest meeting and event venues – positioning the hotel as a key
player in the regional MICE and leisure market.
The
opening marks a significant milestone for both the Thai hospitality group and
Melaka’s tourism sector, which saw over 15 million visitors in 2024, a
remarkable 74% year-on-year increase. As the city prepares to co-host UN
Tourism 2025 and aligns with the national Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative, Dusit
Princess Melaka is expected to play a central role in elevating tourism
offerings and international appeal.
Blending
modern design with rich local heritage, Dusit Princess Melaka features
panoramic views of the city and the Straits of Melaka. The hotel offers
exceptional lifestyle and business facilities, including the state’s deepest
swimming pool, a 24-hour gym, and signature dining venues such as Zest
Restaurant, Long Feng Chinese Restaurant, and the lively Famosa Lounge.
A
standout feature is the 774-square-metre event and conference space, equipped
with a full LED screen and flexible configurations, catering to corporate
events, weddings, and private functions.
Guests
can also enjoy immersive cultural experiences curated by the hotel, showcasing
Melaka’s vibrant sights, flavours, and traditions.
The
grand opening was officiated by Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd
Ali Bin Mohd Rustam, Governor of Melaka, and attended by Mr Mohamad Bukhari bin
Che Man, Director of MOTAC Melaka.
“Dusit
Princess Melaka opens at a crucial moment,” said Mr Mohamad Bukhari. “It
supports Melaka’s transformation into a world-class tourism destination and
reflects our commitment to responsible and inclusive growth. With its
Thai-inspired elegance and extensive amenities, the hotel is set to become a
cornerstone of both leisure and business tourism in the region.”
Gilles
Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International, added: “This opening
marks Dusit’s meaningful entry into Malaysia. We are proud to bring our
signature gracious hospitality to Melaka and look forward to welcoming both
international visitors and delegates of UN Tourism 2025.”
Since
its soft launch, Dusit Princess Melaka has already earned acclaim, winning Best
Hotel for Business Travellers – Malaysia and Excellence in Regional Hospitality
– Malaysia at the International Business Magazine Awards 2025.
To
celebrate, the hotel is offering a limited-time “Melaka Retreat” package, which
includes daily breakfast, a MYR 50 daily F&B credit, complimentary upgrades
(subject to availability), and a 15% discount for Dusit Gold members. Bookings
are open until 4 January 2026 for stays through the same date.
