McDonald’s Türkiye has selected seven of its most
distinctive restaurants for a new project focusing on architecture, location
and the connection between individual outlets and their destinations. Under the
title “7 Wonders of McDonald’s”, the company is highlighting restaurants in
some of Türkiye’s most popular tourism regions and cities.
The seven locations are Bodrum Yalıkavak, İzmir
Selçuk, Muğla Göcek, Antalya Land of Legends, Istanbul Sirkeci, İzmir Çeşme
Drive-Thru and Antalya Merkez. Each uses design elements intended to reflect
the character, architecture or lifestyle of its surroundings.
From Aegean sunsets to ancient Ephesus
The Bodrum Yalıkavak restaurant makes its location
part of the experience, with views across the Aegean and a setting particularly
suited to watching the sunset.
In Selçuk near Ephesus, the approach is different.
Stone architecture references the historic character of the region while being
incorporated into a contemporary restaurant.
Further south, the Göcek location sits within a
marina. Its architecture has been designed to blend with the surrounding
villas, while a large green garden provides space for visitors stopping before
or after a boat trip.
The Çeşme Drive-Thru also draws on traditional Aegean
stone architecture. A spacious outdoor area complements the drive-through
service, positioning the restaurant as a convenient stop for travellers
exploring the peninsula.
Family entertainment in Antalya
At The Land of Legends in Antalya, the restaurant
takes inspiration from its theme park surroundings. Colourful interiors, play
areas and an interactive digital gaming table are aimed particularly at
families with children, while larger seating areas provide space for longer
visits.
Antalya Merkez offers a contrasting atmosphere.
Located close to Kaleiçi and the Lycian Way, the restaurant has a large open
garden. Natural materials and pastel shades have been used to complement the
historic character of the surrounding area.
Old Istanbul from Sirkeci
The Istanbul Sirkeci restaurant occupies a historic
building in a conservation area and draws on the atmosphere of the old city.
Its location provides views towards the Bosphorus and Galata Tower and makes it
a potential stop for visitors exploring Istanbul’s historic centre.
The seven restaurants also underline the role that
major international brands increasingly give to individual design rather than
applying identical concepts to every location.
Network grows to 332 restaurants
McDonald’s Türkiye says it has opened 38 new
restaurants this year, taking its nationwide network to 332 locations.
“At McDonald's Türkiye, we continue to grow with a
long-term investment perspective,” says CEO Mwaffak Kanjee. “With every new
restaurant, we bring our brand closer to more people while contributing to
local employment, regional economies and community life.”
Kanjee says location planning also takes account of
the character of individual destinations. “When planning new locations, we
consider the pace of each city, its architectural identity, local lifestyles
and the expectations of our guests. We aim to reflect this sense of place
throughout the restaurant experience.”
