LOT Polish Airlines launches direct Warsaw–Bangkok flights

LOT Polish Airlines has launched its first scheduled nonstop service between Warsaw and Bangkok, opening a new direct air connection between Poland and Thailand. The inaugural flight, LO65, arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on 8 October 2026, where representatives of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the airline and aviation authorities welcomed the new service. The route is expected to support growing demand from Poland and neighbouring Central European markets during Thailand’s peak tourism season.

The airline initially operates three weekly flights before increasing frequencies to five per week from 26 October 2026 through March 2027. The expanded winter schedule will provide up to 1,260 inbound seats weekly, improving access to Bangkok and onward destinations throughout Thailand. For Polish travellers, the direct connection eliminates the need for transfers at intermediate hubs and offers a more convenient option for long-haul leisure travel.

The launch comes as Poland develops into an increasingly important European source market for Thailand. Visitor arrivals from Poland rose by 31.46 percent to 237,570 in 2025, while the first nine months of 2026 recorded further growth of 12 percent. TAT expects approximately 250,000 Polish visitors by the end of the year, supported by additional airline capacity and targeted cooperation with travel trade partners.

Five weekly flights during winter

During the introductory period from 7 to 25 October, LOT Polish Airlines operates flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flight LO65 departs Warsaw Chopin Airport at 15:45 and arrives in Bangkok at 07:05 the following morning. The return service, LO66, leaves Suvarnabhumi Airport at 09:05 and reaches Warsaw at 15:20.

From 26 October, Thursday and Sunday departures will be added, bringing the total to five weekly rotations. The increased frequency will remain in place throughout the winter schedule until March 2027.

The new route also strengthens Bangkok’s role as an international gateway. Beyond the Thai capital, Polish visitors frequently travel to Chon Buri, Phuket, Krabi and Ko Samui, while improved connectivity creates opportunities to promote less-established destinations.

In the opposite direction, Thai passengers gain access to LOT Polish Airlines’ network of more than 100 destinations across Europe and other regions through its Warsaw hub.

Founded in 1928, LOT is one of the world’s longest-established airlines and has been a member of Star Alliance since 2003. The carrier previously served Thailand through seasonal charter flights to Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi. The new Warsaw–Bangkok connection marks its entry into scheduled direct services to the country.

Tourism promotion targets longer stays

TAT is supporting the route launch through coordinated marketing and travel trade activities designed to convert additional airline capacity into visitor demand.

From 8 to 11 October, the authority’s Prague office is hosting a familiarisation trip for 30 participants, including six Polish tour operators, 18 media representatives and six LOT Polish Airlines executives. The itinerary covers Bangkok and Rayong, introducing participants to tourism products and experiences that could be incorporated into future travel programmes.

The initiative is intended to encourage new itineraries, strengthen relationships with distribution partners and increase awareness of destinations beyond Thailand’s established holiday centres.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool described the connection as part of a broader strategy to generate greater economic value from international tourism.

“Through our Value over Volume and Partnership 360 strategies, we are working with airlines and travel partners to attract quality, longer-stay travellers, broaden access to destinations across Thailand and distribute tourism income more widely,” she said.

Polish visitors already represent an attractive segment for this approach. According to TAT, travellers from Poland spend approximately 14 days in Thailand on average, providing opportunities for multi-destination itineraries and extended stays.

Between January and September 2026, Thailand welcomed 164,807 Polish visitors, compared with approximately 147,000 during the corresponding period of 2025. The continued increase follows the particularly strong expansion recorded last year.

With the winter flight schedule adding substantial direct capacity, the new LOT service gives tour operators and travel agents greater flexibility when developing Thailand packages for the Polish market. It also provides a platform for promoting combinations of Bangkok, coastal resorts and emerging destinations to travellers across Central Europe.
