Tourexpi
This
major infrastructure project aims not only to ease traffic but also to
stimulate the economic, tourism, and social development of the region.
According to the ministry, the highway is expected to generate a total economic
benefit of 17.7 billion Turkish Lira.
The
new route will feature seven interchanges, five tunnels totalling 4,365 metres,
16 viaducts stretching 5,966 metres, and four motorway service areas. It will
begin at the Serik junction, follow the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, and
terminate north of Konaklı at the western Alanya junction.
122
Kilometres of New Road – Travel Time More Than Halved
The
total length of the highway will be 122 kilometres, comprising 84 kilometres of
main carriageway and 38 kilometres of access roads. Travel time between Antalya
and Alanya will be reduced from the current 2.5 hours to just 36 minutes. This
time saving is projected to generate an annual economic gain of 16.9 billion
Lira, along with fuel savings of 800 million Lira. In addition, approximately
47,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions are expected to be saved each year.
A
Strategic Infrastructure Project of National Importance
Minister
Uraloğlu emphasized that the new highway will significantly relieve congestion
on the existing route, particularly during the busy summer months. The modern
connection will serve as a key driver for tourism, agriculture, and logistics
in the region. It will also enhance efficiency in linking fruit and vegetable
production centres to export ports.
The
Antalya–Alanya highway is part of a broader infrastructure development plan. In
the coming years, it will be connected with other planned motorways such as
Denizli–Burdur and Burdur–Antalya, contributing to a continuous highway network
stretching to İzmir, Istanbul, and Turkey’s European border.
