Tourexpi
Operated
by a three-class Boeing 777-300ER under flight numbers EK709/710, the new
service will increase capacity on the popular route by more than 30 percent.
The
additional frequency will complement Emirates’ current two daily A380 services
(EK701/702 and EK703/704) and will provide improved connectivity for travellers
from across the airline’s global network of over 140 destinations. The
codeshare arrangement with Air Mauritius will ensure convenient schedules and
enhanced connectivity for travellers from the Middle East, Europe, and the
Americas, while also opening up access from the Far East, including Japan,
China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
Flight
EK709 will depart Dubai daily at 06:55 and arrive in Mauritius at 13:40. The
return flight EK710 will depart Mauritius at 18:30 and arrive in Dubai at 01:10
the next day. All times are local. Passengers can book seats in First Class,
Business Class, and Economy Class.
Tickets
for the third daily service are available now on emirates.com, the Emirates
App, retail stores, contact centres, and via travel agents.
Adnan
Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed
appreciation to the Mauritian authorities for their support. “We have proudly
served Mauritius since 2002. Our double daily A380 services have played a key
role in driving tourism to the island. The new daily service on our Boeing 777
will add more than 30 percent capacity and provide additional flexibility and
choice for leisure and business travellers.”
Kazim
also highlighted the value of the airline’s partnership with Air Mauritius.
“Our renewed codeshare agreement reinforces our joint commitment to boosting
Mauritius’ global profile. This third daily service will help both carriers
meet growing demand.”
Since
launching operations to Mauritius in 2002, Emirates has carried over 8.8
million passengers and 126,000 tonnes of cargo on the route. The airline’s
contributions to the local economy include USD 119 million in direct impact
from flights, USD 264 million in tourism receipts, and USD 530 million in
broader tourism-related spending.
Emirates
has supported the creation of 3,600 jobs in Mauritius and employs hundreds of
Mauritian nationals across various roles including pilots, cabin crew,
engineering, and corporate functions.
The
airline has maintained a strong partnership with Air Mauritius since 2003 and
with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) since 2012, collaborating
on joint initiatives to promote the destination.
Emirates
currently operates 14 weekly A380 flights between Dubai and Mauritius, offering
over 15,000 seats. It is the only airline serving the island with the
double-decker aircraft and offering First Class service.
