Greece Introduces Cruise Passenger Fee to Boost Tourism Revenue

According to the state-run AMNA news agency, the newly introduced "Cruise Fee" applies to each passenger arriving at a Greek port as part of a sightseeing excursion aboard a commercial recreational vessel.

The fee will vary depending on the destination and the season. For the peak tourist period—June 1 to September 30—passengers visiting the highly popular islands of Mykonos and Santorini will be charged €20 (approximately $23.30) per person.

For all other Greek ports during the same high season, the fee will be €5.

The Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy has established an electronic system for processing payments. Responsibility for collecting and forwarding the fee lies with shipping agents and cruise operators.
