International flight capacity to Spain rises 7.2% in August

The number of seats scheduled on international flights to Spain will reach 14.1 million in August 2026, according to the latest Air Capacity Report published by Turespaña. This represents an increase of 7.2% compared with the same month last year, when airlines offered 13.1 million seats.

Most of Spain’s key source markets are contributing to the increase, although growth rates vary considerably. While the United Kingdom and Italy are expanding strongly, capacity from Germany and France is rising at a more moderate pace.

United Kingdom and Italy drive growth

The United Kingdom, Spain’s largest international source market, is expected to record an 8.1% increase in scheduled seats compared with August 2025. Italy is growing even faster, with capacity up 10.9%.

France and Germany show more restrained development. Scheduled seats from France are set to rise by 2.4%, while capacity from Germany will increase by 1.6%.

Mixed picture across the Nordic markets

Air capacity from the Nordic countries remains uneven. Denmark is expected to post growth of 1.7%, while Sweden is broadly stable with a marginal increase of 0.1%.

By contrast, scheduled capacity from Norway is forecast to decline by 2.8%. Finland records the sharpest fall in the region, with the number of available seats down 5.6% year on year.

Poland and Türkiye continue rapid expansion

Poland once again stands out as one of Spain’s fastest-growing source markets. Scheduled air capacity for August is expected to increase by more than 30%, continuing the strong momentum seen in recent months.

Türkiye is also expanding significantly, with a year-on-year increase of 22.9%. The figures underline the growing importance of both markets for Spain’s inbound tourism sector.

Growth from the United States loses pace

The United States remains on an upward trajectory, although its rate of expansion is slowing. Scheduled seats from the US are expected to rise by 2.8% in August.

Among Latin American markets, Mexico and Colombia account for the largest volumes of scheduled capacity. Seats from Mexico are forecast to increase by 9.7%, while Colombia records growth of 3.6%.
