Eurowings is expanding its European network for summer 2027 with five new routes from Berlin, Hanover and Stuttgart. The Lufthansa Group airline will introduce direct connections to Copenhagen, Madrid, Venice, Dublin and Verona, strengthening its offering for both city breaks and leisure travel. Bookings for the additional services opened on 27 October 2026.
The network expansion forms part of a broader series of announcements covering the airline's operations, partnerships and seasonal services. Eurowings is also introducing temporary flights from Berlin and Hamburg to Edinburgh during the Advent and Christmas period, while its long-standing partnership with German football club Borussia Dortmund has been extended for another year.
The airline has also reached a passenger milestone on its Saarbrücken–Palma de Mallorca route and is preparing for the release of a two-part television documentary about its daily operations. Together, the developments highlight different aspects of Eurowings' business, from network growth and regional airport connections to brand partnerships and the operational demands of running a European airline.
Five new connections for summer 2027
The largest expansion is planned at Stuttgart Airport, where Eurowings will introduce direct flights to Copenhagen and Madrid from 28 March 2027. Both destinations will be served six times a week, providing frequent connections between the German city and the capitals of Denmark and Spain.
Hanover will gain two additional international routes. Flights to Venice will begin on 28 March 2027, operating on Thursdays and Sundays. A new service to Dublin will follow on 3 May, with departures scheduled for Mondays and Fridays.
From Berlin Brandenburg Airport, Eurowings will introduce flights to Verona on 4 June 2027. The service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, connecting the German capital with the northern Italian city.
The new routes offer additional options for short breaks and longer holidays, particularly in destinations with strong cultural and urban tourism appeal. The Copenhagen and Madrid services also provide relatively frequent connections for travellers combining business and leisure activities.
Eurowings is making a separate seasonal addition to its winter schedule. Between 4 December 2026 and 4 January 2027, the airline will operate direct flights from both Berlin and Hamburg to Edinburgh. Services to the Scottish capital are scheduled twice weekly, on Fridays and Sundays, targeting demand for travel during the Advent and Christmas season.
Borussia Dortmund partnership extended
Beyond its route network, Eurowings has renewed its cooperation with Borussia Dortmund for another year. The airline and the football club are marking the tenth anniversary of their partnership in 2026. Their cooperation involving Borussia Dortmund's women's team, which began in 2022, will also continue for another season.
A visible element of the relationship is the black-and-yellow BVB Team Airbus, which Eurowings describes as the world's first passenger aircraft featuring a matte paint finish. The specially branded aircraft serves as a promotional ambassador for the football club.
Eurowings CEO Max Kownatzki welcomed the extension, recalling the various aircraft and fan travel activities associated with the partnership over the past decade. Borussia Dortmund Executive Board Chairman Carsten Cramer also highlighted the long-standing cooperation and the three specially branded aircraft that have represented the club during this period.
The renewed agreement maintains a relationship that connects the airline's brand with one of Germany's internationally recognised football clubs.
Documentary explores airline operations
Eurowings is also providing a behind-the-scenes look at its operations through a two-part documentary entitled Ready for Take-Off – Behind the Scenes at Eurowings.
The production becomes available on the German streaming platform RTL+ on 28 October 2026. Television broadcasts are scheduled on VOX for 4 and 11 November, both at 20:15.
Several camera crews accompanied Eurowings employees during the busy summer season, documenting activities ranging from Mediterranean holiday flights to overnight aircraft maintenance. Filming also took place in the airline's Operations Control Centre, which coordinates approximately 600 flights each day.
According to Eurowings, the documentary was filmed during regular operations without a script. It focuses on the cooperation between cockpit crews, cabin personnel, maintenance specialists and ground teams, offering viewers an insight into the processes required to maintain daily flight operations.
Saarbrücken–Palma route reaches passenger milestone
Eurowings has meanwhile carried more than 500,000 passengers between Saarbrücken and Palma de Mallorca since launching the route in 2017.
According to the airline, up to 60,000 passengers use the connection annually. Mallorca remains the most frequently served holiday island within the Eurowings network.
Saarbrücken Airport marked the milestone by presenting the passengers associated with the achievement with a gift box containing Mallorcan specialities.
The figure underlines the importance of established leisure routes from smaller regional airports alongside the airline's expansion at larger German bases. While the new summer 2027 services will broaden the European network, the Saarbrücken connection illustrates the continuing role of direct flights to popular Mediterranean holiday destinations.
