More
than 120 key opinion leaders (KOLs) and media representatives from across Asia
took part in the “AirAsia Skytrax 16 Years Celebration” trip, highlighting
Krabi’s sustainable tourism model and boosting travel during Thailand’s Green
Season.
A
key highlight of the event was the official unveiling of AirAsia’s new aircraft
livery, “Still Winning, Still Gold,” which commemorates the airline’s continued
leadership in global low-cost aviation. The aircraft landed in Krabi on 19
June, where it received a warm welcome at Krabi International Airport.
Celebrating
Sustainable Travel
At
the welcoming ceremony, Mr. Suvit Suriyawong, Vice Governor of Krabi, stated:
“Krabi
is honoured to host guests from across Asia and beyond. With breathtaking
natural beauty, eco-conscious tourism, and the hospitality of our people, we
welcome travellers to experience Krabi not just once, but year-round.”
Guests
attended a welcome dinner at The Beach Krabi featuring Thai cultural
performances, demonstrations of eco-print textile techniques, wellness
activities, and an introduction to TAT Connex, a new digital platform that
connects KOLs with Thai tourism content for global promotion.
Ms.
Parichart Boonclai, Executive Director of TAT’s Marketing Services Department,
emphasized Krabi’s role as a model for sustainable tourism.
“The
Green Season offers a unique opportunity to discover Thailand’s natural charm.
Krabi represents our ‘Krabi Prototype’ initiative with low-carbon tourism,
eco-friendly businesses, and community-driven experiences such as mangrove
tours in Ban Thung Yee Peng and marine conservation around Ko Ngai. Enhanced
safety and infrastructure are key pillars of our tourism development strategy.”
Krabi’s
Global Appeal
In
2023, Krabi welcomed approximately 6.3 million visitors, generating more than
90 billion Baht in tourism revenue. The province’s natural icons, such as Maya
Bay, the Phi Phi Islands, and Railay Beach, have earned international
acclaim—Maya Bay was recently named the world’s most Instagrammable beach by
Heepsy and ranked by Lonely Planet and Beach Atlas. Krabi also offers hot
springs, dramatic limestone cliffs, and vibrant local culture, making it a
sought-after location for international film productions, including Jurassic
World Rebirth.
Under
the “Krabi Goes Green” initiative, the province continues to lead in
environmental protection and sustainable tourism, supported by coordinated
efforts from public and private stakeholders.
AirAsia’s
Continued Commitment
The
fam trip also celebrated AirAsia’s long-standing success in the aviation
industry. With more than one billion passengers flown since 2001, the airline
unveiled its limited-edition gold livery as a symbol of brand strength,
customer loyalty, and dedication to service quality.
Mr.
Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, stated:
“This
16-year Skytrax recognition reflects the commitment of our team and the
continued trust of our passengers. We remain focused on regional network
expansion and launching new high-potential routes to meet future travel
demands.”
To
mark the occasion, AirAsia has launched a promotional campaign valid from 19
June to 3 July 2025, offering discounts on selected routes, baggage, and seat
selection for travel through 31 March 2026.
