Emirates has placed an order for 65 more Boeing 777-9 aircraft valued at $38 billion, announced on the opening day of Dubai Airshow 2025. Already Boeing’s largest wide-body customer, Emirates now holds a total order book of 315 wide-body aircraft with the U.S. manufacturer.

According to the airline, the investment represents a “massive” long-term commitment to the U.S. aerospace sector, helping sustain hundreds of thousands of high-value manufacturing jobs throughout the life cycle of the programs. The 777-9s will be powered by GE9X engines, bringing Emirates’ total order with GE Aerospace to 540 units.

The agreement also lends significant momentum to Boeing’s feasibility study for the 777-10, the proposed larger variant of the 777X family. Emirates has secured options allowing the conversion of existing 777-9 orders to either the 777-10 or the 777-8.

“Emirates is already the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator and we are expanding our commitment to the programme today with additional orders worth US$38 billion for 65 Boeing 777-9s, and 130 GE9X engines. This is a long-term commitment and testament to our partnership with Boeing and GE, and to U.S. aerospace,” said Emirates CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, added: “Boeing has been a proud supporter of Emirates over the past 40 years as the airline has grown into one of the world’s leading carriers and developed a reputation for excellence and innovation. We look forward to growing our partnership and for Emirates to fly Boeing airplanes for decades to come.”

Following this latest purchase, Emirates expects Boeing deliveries to continue through 2038.

Dubai Airshow 2025, now in its 19th edition, opened Monday with more than 1,500 participants from 115 countries. The event—one of the world’s largest in aviation and aerospace—includes 440 companies exhibiting for the first time and welcomes 490 civilian and military delegations.
