A first for the German aviation market: Eurowings has
introduced a genuine 2×2 premium seating configuration on a narrow-body
aircraft, marking a clear break from traditional three-seat rows and setting
the stage for new cabin concepts on medium-haul routes – and potentially
beyond. The new Premium BIZ seat completed its successful, fully booked
inaugural flight on 22 November 2025 aboard an A320neo operating the nonstop
Berlin–Dubai service.
A new premium option for medium-haul travel
With the Premium BIZ seat, Eurowings expands its
product range for travellers seeking more comfort, privacy and tailored
service. The new cabin option sits alongside the airline’s existing BIZclass
(featuring a free middle seat and extra legroom) and the economy fares SMART
(with optional extra legroom) and BASIC.
“With the Premium BIZ seat, we are sending a strong
signal for bold innovations within the value segment,” says Eurowings CEO Jens
Bischof. “We are demonstrating that premium comfort does not have to be limited
to expensive long-haul products – it can also be made possible on an efficient
short- and medium-haul aircraft. The fully booked inaugural flight to Dubai
clearly shows that we are striking a chord with our customers.”
Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin
Brandenburg GmbH, welcomed the launch: “The fact that the new premium product
is being introduced from BER first underlines the attractiveness of our
location. The additional comfort on board is a valuable extra on the popular
nonstop route to the Gulf region and is equally appealing to business and
leisure travellers.”
The “Comoda”: more space, more comfort, more
refinement
At the centre of the new product is the “Comoda” seat,
developed by Italian manufacturer Geven and customised in Eurowings’ signature
colours. The seat offers:
·
expanded personal space
·
a reclining leg rest
·
USB charging ports
·
pillow, blanket, amenity kit and hot towel
·
integrated cocktail table
·
dedicated storage for items like headphones, books or tablets
The inflight service has also been upgraded. Guests
are welcomed with an aperitif including nuts or olives and sparkling wine. The
main meal is served on porcelain: a sweet or savoury hot breakfast with fruit
salad and muesli on outbound flights, and a vegetarian or non-vegetarian dinner
with salad and dessert on inbound flights. After the meal service, the full
WINGS Bistro menu is available.
A unique product in Germany’s narrow-body market
On the A320neo, the Premium BIZ zone replaces the
standard 2×3 layout with a spacious 2×2 configuration, creating eight exclusive
seats per aircraft. With this, Eurowings becomes the first German value carrier
to offer a premium product of this type in the narrow-body segment. The service
is being deployed initially on the Berlin–Dubai route, with fares starting at
€399.99 per direction.
Looking ahead: insights for future cabin concepts
The Premium BIZ seat forms part of a broader product
and service initiative at Eurowings. Findings from its launch phase will also
feed into the development of future cabin concepts across the Lufthansa Group.
More information about the Premium BIZ seat is
available on the Eurowings website.
