Eurowings is further strengthening its position at
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) by extending its Dubai service into the summer
season for the first time and adding Rome as a new capital-to-capital
connection. With 47 destinations across 20 countries and more than 230 weekly
departures in the 2026 summer schedule, the airline is offering more choice
than ever before to leisure and business travellers in the German capital.
Dubai flights extended into early summer
For the first time, Eurowings will operate its
Berlin–Dubai route beyond the traditional winter season. Travellers from BER
will be able to fly to Dubai up to eleven times per week until the end of
April, followed by six weekly flights in May and June. The extension provides
additional flexibility, particularly for passengers seeking reliable sunshine
while temperatures in Berlin and Brandenburg remain variable.
The airline is also prolonging its Dubai services at
other German bases. Until mid-May, Stuttgart will be connected to Dubai six
times weekly, Cologne/Bonn four times weekly and Hanover three times weekly.
During the current 2025/26 winter schedule, services
to the Gulf region – including Abu Dhabi – have ranked among Eurowings’ most
successful routes. With a total of 31 weekly connections to Dubai from Berlin,
Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart and Hanover, the carrier is offering the
highest capacity to the Gulf in its history.
New capital link: Berlin–Rome
As part of its 2026 summer schedule, Eurowings is
expanding its network from BER with a focus on European capitals and major
cities. Berlin will be connected for the first time with London (up to twelve
weekly flights), Lisbon (up to three weekly flights) and Sarajevo (twice
weekly).
From 2 November, Rome will join the network as a new
capital-to-capital route. The Italian capital will be served four times per
week – on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Expanded leisure offering and higher frequencies
The airline is also enhancing its portfolio for
holidaymakers and families. Olbia in Sardinia and Naples will each be served
twice weekly. During the peak season, Kavala in Greece will be added with up to
two weekly flights.
At the same time, Eurowings is increasing frequencies
on high-demand routes. Palma de Mallorca will receive six additional weekly
flights, Stockholm four more, while Zurich and Split will each gain two extra
connections. Frequencies to Bilbao, Faro, Gothenburg, Helsinki and Larnaca will
also be expanded.
Palma de Mallorca remains the strongest destination in
the network. With up to 28 weekly flights, Eurowings is the leading airline on
this route, transporting more than 150,000 passengers annually from BER to the
Balearic island. Overall, the carrier is offering more than 2.3 million seats
from Berlin this year – around 700,000 more than three years ago.
Long-term commitment to Berlin
“Our development in Berlin demonstrates that we are
taking long-term responsibility for the location,” said Max Kownatzki, CEO of
Eurowings. The objective is to establish Eurowings as a leading airline at BER,
based on a stable operational foundation and a clear growth strategy for both
business and leisure travel. Berlin, he emphasized, ranks among Europe’s top
cities politically, economically and culturally.
Aletta von Massenbach, Chair of the Management Board
of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, described the expansion as “a clear
signal of growth at BER.” She highlighted in particular the new capital
connections to London, Lisbon, Sarajevo and, from the winter schedule, Rome,
which significantly strengthen the airport’s European network.
Fleet expansion supports future growth
With an order of 40 Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft valued
at more than five billion US dollars, Eurowings is preparing for further
expansion from 2027 onwards. The introduction of the new aircraft will mark the
next growth phase of the airline, with Berlin Brandenburg Airport playing a
central role in its long-term development strategy.
