Marriott International is significantly expanding its presence in Egypt through a landmark agreement with Misr Italia Properties and People & Places. The partnership will see the development of nine hotels and branded residential projects, adding more than 1,500 hotel rooms and residences across some of Egypt's fastest-growing tourism and lifestyle destinations.

The projects will strengthen Marriott's luxury and premium portfolio while supporting Egypt's ambition to expand its tourism industry and attract further international investment.

Luxury brands to expand across Egypt

The developments will include beach resorts, city hotels and branded residences under several of Marriott's most prestigious brands, including The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection and Autograph Collection.

Among the planned projects is a Ritz-Carlton hotel with 170 guestrooms and 268 branded residences at The Med Ras El Hekma on Egypt's North Coast. Another major development at Solare Ras El Hekma will feature an Autograph Collection hotel with 180 rooms alongside 250 branded residences.

In West Cairo, a Luxury Collection hotel is planned within The Hills of One mixed-use development, offering 180 guestrooms and 180 branded residences.

Additional Autograph Collection projects are planned for Kai Sokhna Red Sea in Ain Sokhna, combining an 80-room hotel with 172 residences, as well as a 100-room hotel within Garden 8 in East Cairo.

Egypt remains a strategic growth market

Marriott says Egypt continues to offer strong long-term growth opportunities, supported by expanding tourism demand, infrastructure development and growing interest in branded residential projects.

"Egypt remains a strategic growth market for Marriott underpinned by strong tourism fundamentals, expanding infrastructure and increasing demand for premium hospitality and branded residential experiences," said Shady Hassan, Vice President, Development – North Africa, Marriott International.

"This agreement underscores our long-term commitment to the market and our confidence in the country's continued growth trajectory."

Hospitality investment to create jobs

Misr Italia Properties and People & Places expect the new developments to play a significant role in Egypt's tourism economy.

According to Mohamed Khaled El Assal, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Misr Italia Properties and Co-Founder of People & Places, the companies plan to invest more than EGP 56.7 billion in hospitality projects. The expansion is expected to create around 6,000 direct and indirect jobs while welcoming approximately 373,000 tourists each year.

"Our continued collaboration with Marriott marks a defining milestone in realising our hospitality ambitions," added Karim Khaled El Assal, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Misr Italia Properties and Co-Founder of People & Places. "Marriott's global expertise and trusted brands strengthen our ability to deliver world-class hospitality experiences and accelerate the execution of our broader long-term vision."

Portfolio set to grow further

The agreement builds on the partnership established in 2022, when the companies announced Marriott Executive Apartments and Westin Residences within the Il Bosco development in Egypt's New Administrative Capital.

Looking ahead, Misr Italia Properties and People & Places aim to develop a portfolio of around 50 hospitality assets by 2037, further strengthening Egypt's position as one of the region's leading destinations for integrated hospitality, tourism and lifestyle developments.
