Turespaña,
the Spanish Institute of Tourism under the Ministry of Industry and Tourism,
has chosen Zaragoza as the venue for the 6th Turespaña Convention. The event
will take place in October 2026 and will mark the start of operational planning
for Spain’s international tourism strategy.
The
bid, presented by Zaragoza Turismo with the backing of the city’s tourism
sector, was described by Turespaña as robust and comprehensive. The Convention
is regarded as a key platform to strengthen Spain’s leadership in the global
tourism industry.
Held
annually, the Turespaña Convention serves as a forum for exchanging information
and aligning strategies between the institute, regional destinations, and the
private sector. Its objectives include fostering collaboration, sharing best
practices, and coordinating international marketing plans with Spain’s tourism
stakeholders.
Zaragoza
will be the second inland destination to host the event consecutively,
following Cáceres in 2025. This aligns with Turespaña’s Strategic Marketing
Plan, which seeks to promote nature-based and inland destinations.
The
city’s bid also highlighted its sustainability focus, including carbon
footprint measurement and the creation of a “Forest of the 6th Turespaña
Convention.” Zaragoza will be officially presented as the 2026 host during the
closing of the 5th Convention in Cáceres.
