The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has
announced Switzerland Tourism as its newest Destination Partner. With the
partnership, the Swiss national tourism organisation aims to deepen its
international industry engagement and further position Switzerland as a
high-quality, sustainable destination for both leisure and business travel.
Switzerland Tourism is responsible for the global
promotion of Switzerland as a travel destination and works closely with tourism
stakeholders as well as public-sector partners. The organisation promotes
year-round travel experiences ranging from alpine tourism and city breaks to
conferences and business events.
Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland Tourism operates
through 35 offices across 21 international source markets in Europe, the
Americas, Asia and the Middle East. The organisation employs around 280 people
worldwide.
Focus on sustainable tourism growth
WTTC sees the new partnership as an opportunity to
strengthen cooperation around sustainable tourism development and long-term
destination competitiveness.
“We are delighted to welcome Switzerland Tourism as a
Destination Partner of WTTC,” said Gloria Guevara, President & CEO of WTTC.
“Switzerland is known for its unique alpine landscapes, rich cultural heritage,
and wide range of year-round experiences for both leisure and business
travellers. We look forward to working together to support sustainable tourism
growth and further strengthen Switzerland’s position as a high-quality
destination on the global stage.”
Switzerland seeks stronger global industry exchange
For Switzerland Tourism, the partnership is intended
to support closer dialogue with international tourism leaders and strengthen
Switzerland’s role in global tourism discussions.
“Joining WTTC enables Switzerland Tourism to engage
more closely with global tourism leaders, contribute Swiss perspectives to
international discussions, and help advance a tourism sector that is
sustainable, resilient and economically strong,” said Martin Nydegger, CEO of
Switzerland Tourism.
Nydegger also highlighted the value of WTTC’s
international business network for Switzerland’s tourism strategy.
“As a nationally mandated, but independently managed
body co-financed by taxpayers and industry partners, Switzerland Tourism wants
to benefit from WTTC’s industry-led ecosystem, which facilitates direct
engagement with global business leaders,” he added.
International collaboration gains importance
The new partnership reflects the growing importance of
international cooperation within the travel and tourism industry, particularly
around sustainability, resilience and long-term competitiveness.
By joining WTTC as a Destination Partner, Switzerland
Tourism underlines its ambition to help shape future tourism development
globally while continuing to promote Switzerland internationally as a premium
year-round destination.
