Tourexpi
WTM London, the world’s most influential travel and
tourism event organised by RX, has announced the full agenda for its Technology
Summit 2025, which will spotlight how artificial intelligence (AI), data, and
digital innovation are transforming the global travel landscape.
Taking place on Wednesday, 5 November, on the Purple
Stage from 10:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., the three-hour summit will bring together a
diverse lineup of experts — from C-suite executives and investors to legal
specialists and tech entrepreneurs — for an in-depth exploration of
technology’s role in helping the industry navigate a period of rapid change.
The programme supports WTM London’s overarching theme,
“Reimagining Travel in a Changing World,” and features 12 curated sessions
developed by Timothy O’Neil-Dunne, WTM’s long-standing technology advisor and
Principal at T2Impact Ltd., a global consultancy focused on aviation, travel,
and tourism.
Spotlight on AI, Data, and the Future of Travel
WTM London’s official Technology Partner Holafly will
feature its CEO Pablo Gómez Fernandez-Quintanilla in a live conversation with
O’Neil-Dunne titled “Connected Futures: Tech, Data and the Power of eSIMs”
(Wednesday, 13:50). Among the summit’s key debates is the provocative question:
“Is AI the travel industry’s enemy?” — with insights from Stephen Joyce
(Prospect Group) and Christian Watts (Magpie Travel).
AI will also feature prominently throughout the
sessions, including discussions on:
·
Legal implications of AI: Rhys Griffiths and Farina Azam (Fox Williams)
will unpack the regulatory and compliance challenges facing travel businesses.
·
Investment outlook: Andreas Nau (Ennea Capital Partners) and Min Liu
(Cambon Partners) will share how investors are responding to AI-driven
disruption.
·
The evolving role of travel agents: James Lever (DataArt) and Gulce
Rozenveld (Oojo.com) will discuss how AI is reshaping the agent’s role and
customer interaction.
·
Inspiration and trip planning: Sally Bunnell (NaviSavi) will explore how
short-form video and AI tools are transforming the way travellers dream and
decide.
Data, Payments, and Airline Innovation
Dave Goodger (Tourism Economics) will reveal how
combining economic indicators with travel data helps businesses make smarter
decisions. Thomas Dillon (A3M) and James Spalding (Trip.com Group) will explore
the balance between hyper-personalisation and privacy in the age of data-driven
travel.
Payments will also take centre stage in a panel
featuring James Lemon (Stripe), Will Plummer (Trust My Group), Livia Vite
(actuary.aero), and Qais Amori (Almosafer), who will highlight how fintech
innovation is fuelling growth across both B2B and B2C travel sectors.
The summit further strengthens WTM London’s growing
connection with the airline industry. Filip Filipov (OAG) will open with a data
snapshot of global airline trends, followed by Amanda Campbell (T2RL) and Nadine
Wood (formerly Qantas) discussing how low-cost carriers are evolving — and what
legacy airlines can learn from them.
Beyond Software: The Immersive Future
Rounding out the programme, Roman Townsend (Belvera
Partners) will showcase the latest developments in artificial and virtual
reality technologies and their applications for travel marketing and customer
engagement.
A Future-Focused Conversation
“Our goal is to offer attendees an eclectic mix of
perspectives — from tech pioneers to travel lawyers — to spark an honest,
forward-looking dialogue,” said Timothy O’Neil-Dunne. “We’re taking a broad
approach to AI, ensuring data, payments, and airlines are also part of the
conversation. We’ll end by asking the defining question of our time: Is AI good
or bad for travel? Join us on the Purple Stage at 10:45 on Wednesday, November
5, for a candid and inspiring discussion about the future of travel technology.”
