Turkey participated in the 26th UN Tourism General
Assembly held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, represented by Nadir Alpaslan, the
country’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism.
The two-day assembly, organized under the theme “AI-Powered
Tourism: Redefining the Future,” brought together representatives from more
than 160 countries to discuss the next era of global tourism. Key topics
included digital transformation, sustainability, and inclusive growth within
the industry.
During the sessions, delegates adopted a declaration
establishing the first global framework for the ethical, fair, and sustainable
use of artificial intelligence in tourism, marking an important milestone for
responsible innovation in the sector.
On the sidelines of the assembly, Deputy Minister Nadir
Alpaslan held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Angola, Albania,
Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Niger, focusing on opportunities for
cooperation, joint projects, and sustainable tourism initiatives.
The event underscored the growing role of digital
technologies and international collaboration in shaping a resilient and
forward-looking global tourism ecosystem.
