IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of
Six Senses Camp Korongo, a 480-acre resort and branded residential community in
Southern Utah, near Kanab. Scheduled to open in 2029, the project marks a
further expansion of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the Americas and
introduces a new Six Senses destination shaped by canyon landscapes, desert
skies and the cultural history of the region.
Set amid sculpted red rock formations, juniper forests
and expansive desert horizons, Six Senses Camp Korongo is designed as a
secluded retreat deeply connected to its natural surroundings. The resort will
comprise 41 luxury tented pavilions and 12 branded residences, with
architecture and materials carefully chosen to harmonise with the colours,
textures and sightlines of the desert environment.
Nature-led experiences at the heart of the concept
Guest experiences will be guided by the rhythms of the
landscape. Activities are expected to include hiking along ancient trails,
canyoneering through dramatic rock formations and stargazing beneath some of
the darkest night skies in the region. The location offers proximity to iconic
national parks such as Zion, Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon and Arches, all
visible from the site, positioning the resort as a base for exploration and
discovery.
Within the sanctuary itself, the Six Senses Spa will
focus on holistic well-being, offering guests the opportunity to engage with
wellness experiences to varying depths, from relaxation to more immersive
journeys of personal renewal.
Strategic growth for Six Senses in the Americas
The signing reflects Six Senses’ ambition to set new
benchmarks in experiential ultra-luxury travel across the Americas. Each
property in the brand’s portfolio is developed with a strong sense of place,
prioritising natural beauty, sustainability and meaningful connection.
“Six Senses Camp Korongo will blend the brand’s
distinctive values and touchpoints in a unique location while also underscoring
our growth plan for the brand in the Americas,” said Jolyon Bulley, Chief
Executive Officer, Americas, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “As outdoor exploration,
natural connection and wellness continue to inspire luxury travelers, we’re
delighted to bring this desert adventure to life alongside the exceptional team
at Canyon Global Partners.”
Collaboration rooted in landscape and sustainability
The project is being developed in partnership with
Canyon Global Partners, marking IHG’s first collaboration with the
California-based developer, whose work is closely tied to the landscapes of the
American Southwest. Design is led by Luxury Frontiers, an architecture and
design studio based in South Africa, known for nature-centric and sustainable
approaches.
“Southern Utah’s combination of spectacular
topography, recreational opportunity and tranquility are a perfect match for
Six Senses,” said Homi Vazifdar, Founder of Canyon Global Partners. “In
aligning our nearly two decades of ultra-luxury resort development with IHG’s
experienced luxury brand vision, we’re confident Six Senses Camp Korongo will
quickly become a coveted destination that sets the standard for top-scale
hotels and residences.”
Neil Palmer, Chief Operating Officer of Six Senses,
highlighted the brand’s philosophy behind the project: “Six Senses Camp Korongo
brings forward our distinctly original approach to both resorts and residences
– places to truly connect with the landscape. Owners and guests will share a
rhythm shaped by nature that restores as much as it delights, honoring southern
Utah’s unique setting while delivering the thoughtful, regenerative hospitality
expected from Six Senses.”
Part of a broader luxury pipeline
Six Senses Camp Korongo joins a growing pipeline of
Six Senses properties in the Americas, including upcoming destinations in
Mexico, Belize, Pennsylvania and Colorado. More broadly, luxury and lifestyle
brands account for a significant share of IHG’s global development pipeline,
reflecting continued demand for high-end, experience-driven travel across
diverse settings, from urban centres to remote natural landscapes.
