RIU Hotels & Resorts has reopened the Riu Palace
Calypso on Fuerteventura’s Jandía beach following a comprehensive refurbishment
that redefines the property within the brand’s RIU Palace Adults Only category.
The renovation expands dining options, redesigns all interiors and communal
spaces, improves accessibility, and enhances panoramic sea views throughout the
hotel.
The 4-star hotel, which maintains its 248 rooms, now
offers a calm, elegant atmosphere marked by neutral tones and contemporary
design. All rooms feature modernised interiors and terraces with improved views
of the Atlantic Ocean.
Redesigned spaces and new relaxation areas
The lobby has been extended to open directly toward
the sea, using bright, natural materials to maximise light and space. New
communal areas include an indoor and outdoor lounge bar and a solarium with
Balinese beds, reinforcing the hotel’s serene, adults-only ambience.
Refined gastronomy
Guests can now choose from three distinct dining
venues, including the newly introduced Krystal gourmet restaurant, which
complements the fully refurbished main restaurant and snack bar. Natural light
and minimalist elegance define the new dining spaces, creating a sophisticated
yet inviting setting.
Sustainability and accessibility upgrades
Aligned with RIU’s Proudly Committed sustainability
strategy, the refurbishment introduces energy-efficient systems, solar panels,
and water-saving installations. Baths have been replaced with showers, and the
pool now features a saltwater chlorination system. The number of accessible
rooms has been increased to eight, and all common areas are now fully
accessible.
RIU currently operates 16 hotels across the Canary
Islands – seven in Gran Canaria, four in Tenerife, one in Lanzarote, and four
in Fuerteventura. The Riu Palace Calypso’s transformation underscores the
company’s ongoing investment in its key European destination, both in
infrastructure and employment.
