Radisson Hotel Group has officially entered the New
Zealand market with the opening of Radisson RED Auckland. The launch also marks
the brand’s first Radisson RED property in the wider Australasia region.
Positioned in Auckland’s Arts District, the hotel brings the group’s
upper-upscale lifestyle concept into one of the city’s most culturally active
neighbourhoods.
Strategic entry into a new national market
Located at 33 Lorne Street in Auckland’s Central
Business District, Radisson RED Auckland features 322 rooms and suites. The
property combines gallery-inspired interiors, immersive lighting concepts and
theatrical design references reflecting the surrounding arts precinct. A
rooftop bar and flexible rooftop event spaces form a central element of the
hotel’s identity.
Radisson Hotel Group describes the opening as a
milestone for its regional expansion strategy.
“Radisson RED thrives in cities fueled by creativity,
culture, and community, and Auckland captures that spirit perfectly. This
opening marks a major milestone for our growth in Australasia and a proud
moment for our upper-upscale Radisson RED brand, which brings a playful twist
to the conventional. As Radisson Hotel Group’s debut in New Zealand and the
first Radisson RED in the region, we can’t wait for everyone to see Auckland in
RED and experience a hotel bursting with energy, design, and unforgettable moments,”
says Tim Cordon, Chief Operating Officer, MEA & SEAP, Radisson Hotel Group.
Design concept shaped by performing arts
The hotel’s interior design draws heavily on
theatrical motifs. Corridor lighting resembles stage spotlights, lounge seating
references opera boxes, and guest rooms incorporate layered textures and
expressive colour schemes inspired by dressing rooms. Higher-floor rooms offer
skyline views, while the Suite Panorama provides views across Auckland City,
Albert Park and the harbour.
Location anchored in Auckland’s cultural core
The hotel’s central location places guests within
close reach of major attractions, including the Art Gallery, Civic Theatre, Sky
Tower, Auckland Museum, Waiheke Island and the West Coast beaches. The
surrounding district is characterised by cafés, restaurants and cultural
venues, supporting both leisure and business travel segments.
Rooftop as a defining feature
Radisson RED Auckland introduces what is positioned as
the largest outdoor rooftop space in New Zealand. Designed for up to 219 guests
in a cocktail-style setup, the rooftop area functions as both a social venue
and a multi-purpose events platform. The space can be configured into four
flexible rooms suitable for corporate functions, private events and live
performances.
Focus on social interaction and lifestyle positioning
In line with the Radisson RED brand philosophy, the
property integrates dining, music and mixology concepts aimed at fostering
informal interaction. An all-day dining venue and bar complement the rooftop
offering. The hotel also includes a fitness centre accessible daily from 5 AM
to 11 PM.
“Opening Radisson RED Auckland marks an exciting new
chapter for the city, one that celebrates creativity, connection, and a bold
new way to experience hospitality. We’ve designed Radisson RED Auckland to be
far more than a place to stay, it’s a creative hub where locals and travelers
can plug into the heartbeat of the CBD and feel the city’s culture, color, and
energy from the moment they arrive,” concludes Reinout Engel, General Manager,
Radisson RED Auckland.
