From
October 16, 2025, the airlines will increase frequencies and extend codeshares,
offering Chinese travellers greater access to Qatar Airways’ global network of
over 170 destinations.
Qatar
Airways and China Southern Airlines today announced a significant expansion of
their partnership, increasing services between Doha and Beijing Daxing ahead of
the Chinese Golden Week holiday. The move builds on the Memorandum of
Understanding signed last year and reflects both airlines’ commitment to
improving global connectivity from China.
Expanded
codeshares and new services
From
mid-October, Qatar Airways will place its code on China Southern’s three weekly
flights between Beijing Daxing and Doha. At the same time, China Southern will
extend its “CZ” code on Qatar Airways-operated services beyond Doha to 15
cities across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, including Amman, Athens,
Barcelona, Cairo, Dar es Salaam, Madrid, and Munich.
Qatar
Airways already codeshares on China Southern’s Guangzhou–Doha route, launched
in April 2024. Pending government approval, the agreement will also see China
Southern extend its code to Qatar Airways’ services linking Doha with Chengdu
Tianfu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai.
Voices
from the partnership
“This
expansion ensures that every Qatar Airways route to China is now available to
China Southern’s passengers,” said Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer
at Qatar Airways. “It strengthens our long-term commitment to China and, timed
with Golden Week, provides travellers with unrivalled access through Doha’s
Hamad International Airport to more than 170 destinations worldwide.”
Han
Wensheng, President and CEO of China Southern Airlines, added: “Beijing Daxing
is a cornerstone of our international development. These new Doha services,
alongside our operations from Guangzhou, give Chinese travellers more
opportunities to connect to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas,
supported by Qatar Airways’ award-winning global hub.”
One
of the largest China–Middle East networks
With
the new frequencies and codeshares, Qatar Airways and its partners China
Southern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines will jointly operate 64 weekly flights
across eight gateways in Greater China. Services are flown on modern aircraft
offering passengers free in-flight Wi-Fi powered by Starlink.
Looking
ahead
Beyond
passenger services, both airlines will continue to deepen their partnership in
cargo operations and loyalty programmes, reflecting their shared commitment to
building sustainable and customer-focused connectivity worldwide.
