To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United
States, Oceania Cruises® is inviting travellers to explore Alaska and New
England through a curated collection of voyages in 2026. Between May and
October, the luxury cruise line will operate 19 journeys to ports across both
regions, offering an in-depth perspective on the landscapes, history and
cultural legacy that have shaped the nation.
Designed for unhurried exploration, the itineraries
range from Alaska’s vast wilderness to the historic harbour towns of New
England. Sailing aboard the intimate, design-led ships Oceania Riviera™ and
Oceania Vista®, guests experience destinations through a combination of
small-group shore excursions, cultural encounters and Oceania Cruises’
signature culinary programme.
From Alaska’s wilderness to New England’s historic
shores
In Alaska, the focus is on the dramatic scale of the
natural environment and the stories of exploration and settlement. Routes
feature towering glaciers, fjords and remote coastal communities, alongside
ports such as Juneau and Skagway that recall the era of the gold rush. Wildlife
encounters, glacier cruising and optional activities such as helicopter
flightseeing and glacier trekking form part of the experience.
New England offers a contrasting perspective, rooted
in the formative chapters of American history. Boston, widely regarded as the
birthplace of the American Revolution, and Newport, Rhode Island, with its
grand Gilded Age mansions, anchor itineraries that also include coastal
destinations such as Bar Harbor. Seasonal highlights such as autumn foliage and
regional specialities, including traditional lobster dishes, provide a strong
sense of place.
“Oceania Cruises has always been about immersing
travelers into the heart of the destination,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury
Officer of Oceania Cruises. “As America commemorates its 250th anniversary, we
are honored to offer journeys that showcase the country’s enduring spirit,
mesmerizing landscapes, fascinating history and rich tapestry of culture.”
Voyages shaped by comfort, cuisine and culture
On board, the rugged character of the destinations is
balanced by refined surroundings. Oceania Riviera™ and Oceania Vista® feature
spacious staterooms and suites, some extending to nearly 2,500 square feet,
alongside multiple specialty dining venues. The line’s culinary focus is
reflected in restaurants such as Jacques and Polo Grill, as well as in hands-on
programmes at The Culinary Center. Additional enrichment is available through
the LYNC Digital Center and the Artist Loft, extending the destination experience
beyond the shore.
Among the journeys planned for 2026 is a ten-day
Alaska voyage from Seattle to Vancouver aboard Oceania Riviera™, departing on
25 May. The itinerary traces the Pacific Northwest coastline northward, calling
at Ketchikan and Wrangell, continuing to Icy Strait Point and Juneau, and
culminating with a scenic cruise through the Holkham Bay Glacier Fjords before
arriving in Vancouver.
Another Alaska itinerary, a twelve-day round trip from
Seattle departing on 2 July, also aboard Oceania Riviera™, includes a call in
Ketchikan on 4 July, followed by Juneau, Skagway and the Hubbard Glacier. A
visit to Klawock offers insight into the traditions of the Tlingit community
before the voyage continues to Victoria and returns to Seattle.
In autumn, Oceania Vista® will sail an eleven-day
route from New York to Montreal, departing on 6 October. This journey links key
locations in America’s founding narrative, including Newport and Boston, with
ports in Canada such as Halifax, Sydney and Quebec City, before concluding in
Montreal. The itinerary highlights the historic and cultural continuity of
North America’s northeastern seaboard.
With these voyages, Oceania Cruises positions the
250th anniversary not as a single event, but as an invitation to engage deeply
with America’s landscapes, history and cultural identity through travel that
emphasises depth, refinement and discovery.
