Marriott International has signed an agreement with
Kemmons Wilson Hospitality Partners to bring The Resort at Kapalua Bay on
Maui’s northwest coast into its luxury hotel portfolio. The oceanfront property
will be repositioned as a St. Regis hotel after a planned renovation, with the
rebranding scheduled for 2027.
Marriott assumed management of the resort’s operations
on 14 March 2026. While preparations for the transformation are underway, the
property remains open and continues to welcome guests.
Luxury resort on one of Maui’s most scenic coastlines
The Resort at Kapalua Bay is located on roughly 25
acres of oceanfront land within the wider Kapalua Resort community, one of
Hawai‘i’s most renowned leisure destinations. The property features 146
spacious ocean-view residences with multiple bedrooms, combining the privacy
and comfort of residential living with luxury hospitality services.
Dana Jacobsohn, Chief Development Officer for Global
Mixed Use and Luxury, North America at Marriott International, said:
“We are proud to work with Kemmons Wilson on the
evolution of this exceptional resort. Kapalua Bay is one of the most iconic
leisure destinations in the world, and this agreement reflects our continued
momentum in growing a best-in-class luxury resort portfolio that resonates with
today's discerning luxury traveler.”
Partnership supports next phase of the resort
Kemmons Wilson Hospitality Partners, the owner of the
resort, said the partnership with Marriott marks the next stage in the
property’s development.
Webb Wilson, Chief Investment Officer at KWHP, said:
“KWHP is thrilled to soon welcome St. Regis to Kapalua
Bay. Since first investing in this extraordinary resort, our vision has been to
continually elevate the quality, service, and care that define the guest
experience here.”
Jonathon Vopinek, CEO and President of White Label
Asset Management, added that the repositioning will further enhance the
resort’s status as a leading luxury destination.
Extensive amenities for leisure and events
The resort offers residential-style accommodation
ranging from approximately 1,774 to more than 4,050 square feet, overlooking
tropical gardens and the Pacific Ocean. Facilities include championship-level
golf courses, tennis courts, a 40,000-square-foot spa with ocean-view wellness
areas and 19 treatment rooms, as well as extensive indoor and outdoor event
spaces.
Guests also benefit from direct access to Kapalua Bay
Beach and multiple outdoor swimming pools, including a cascading lagoon-style
pool.
With the agreement, Marriott further strengthens its
presence in Hawai‘i, where the company currently operates around 30 hotels and
has six additional properties in development.
