Marriott
International announced that Fairfield by Marriott has reached 150 combined
open and pipeline hotels in Greater China, highlighting its role as one of the
region’s fastest-growing select service brands. The announcement came during “The
Beauty of Simplicity – Fairfield by Marriott Fireside Chat” in Hangzhou,
attended by David Marriott, Chairman of the Board, Marriott International, and Yibing
Mao, President, Greater China, Marriott International.
Reflecting
on the brand’s journey since its 2017 debut in Greater China, the two leaders
emphasized its expansion to more than 50 destinations and the new momentum
fueled by product enhancements designed specifically for the region. These
enhancements center around three signature spaces: The Fairfield Living Room,
The Fairfield Restaurant, and Guest Rooms.
Voices
from Marriott
“Fairfield
by Marriott’s expansion in Greater China marks an exciting new chapter for the
brand, and I am pleased to join in celebrating this milestone,” said David
Marriott. “What started with inspiration from our family’s Fairfield Farm has
grown into one of Marriott’s largest and most trusted brands. I’m extremely
proud of the teams who continue to deliver exceptional hospitality across
Greater China and around the world.”
“Since
entering Greater China eight years ago, Fairfield has unlocked new
opportunities for growth—bringing the ‘Beauty of Simplicity’ to more
destinations and more guests across the region,” added Yibing Mao. “With
localized product enhancements, Fairfield continues to drive fresh momentum in
the select service segment.”
Rapid
expansion in key markets
Fairfield
by Marriott has grown by more than 50% in just over a year, moving from its
50th hotel opening in 2024 to 150 hotels open or in the pipeline today. More
than 50 additional hotels are expected to open within the next two years,
including projects in Shanghai’s Xuhui District, Beijing Capital Airport, and
Shenzhen’s Qianhai area.
In
the first seven months of 2025 alone, newly signed projects increased 75%
year-over-year. The brand is also expanding into high-demand leisure and
business destinations such as Yangshuo (Guangxi), Xinzhou (Shanxi), and Qiandao
Lake (Hangzhou), bringing its comfortable and accessible stay experience to a
wider audience.
Product
upgrades for Greater China
To
support this growth, Fairfield recently introduced a regional product upgrade
with a refreshed Chinese brand name endorsed by “by Marriott,” a redesigned
guest experience, and enhanced construction and operating models for owners.
The new design emphasizes “The Beauty of Simplicity,” while addressing four
essential travel needs: working, sleeping, bathing, and service.
Global
footprint
Fairfield
by Marriott is Marriott’s largest brand worldwide, with more than 1,350 open
hotels in 20 countries and territories, and 460 additional hotels in the
pipeline. Guided by its heritage of trusted service and inspired by the
Marriott family’s Fairfield Farm, the brand continues to deliver warm
hospitality to travelers around the globe.
