EVA Air will introduce a new nonstop connection
between Taipei and Washington, D.C. beginning 26 June 2026. The airline plans
to operate four flights per week, further strengthening its presence in the
North American market.
With the addition of Washington, D.C., EVA Air’s North
American network will expand to ten gateways, bringing the total number of
weekly flights to 98. According to the airline, this development positions EVA
Air as the carrier with the most destinations and the largest route network
between Taiwan and North America.
“North America has long been a key strategic market
for EVA Air,” said EVA Air President Clay Sun. “Following the launch of our
Dallas-Fort Worth route last year, we are further expanding our U.S. network
with nonstop service to Washington, D.C. This strengthens our presence on the
East Coast and allows us to better serve one of the nation’s most influential
markets.”
Boeing 787-9 with new Premium Economy
The Taipei–Washington, D.C. route will be operated
using Boeing 787-9 aircraft configured in three classes: Royal Laurel Class,
Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class. EVA Air’s fourth-generation Premium
Economy cabin features an enhanced seat pitch and upgraded design aimed at
delivering a comfort level closer to business-class standards.
The flight schedule provides evening departures from
Taipei and overnight services from Washington, D.C., enabling convenient onward
connections.
Strategic importance of Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C., ranks among the largest metropolitan
regions in the United States and serves as a major center for politics,
international organisations, and global enterprises. EVA Air expects strong
demand from both premium business travel and leisure segments, supported by the
city’s extensive cultural and historical attractions.
“We extend a warm welcome to EVA Air and their new
service to Washington Dulles International Airport,” said Chryssa Westerlund,
Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of the Metropolitan
Washington Airports Authority. “This new nonstop flight will significantly
reduce existing travel times between Taipei and Washington, D.C. The service is
estimated to generate more than $61 million in annual economic impact to the
U.S. National Capital Region.”
Expanded connectivity across the Americas
Following the route launch, EVA Air’s nonstop North
American gateways will include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York,
Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago, Vancouver, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.
Through partnerships with Star Alliance members and
regional carriers, the airline’s network offers access to more than 200
destinations across the Americas. At the same time, North American travellers
benefit from EVA Air’s extensive Asian route system via its hub at Taiwan
Taoyuan International Airport.
Tickets for the new Taipei–Washington, D.C. service
are now available via EVA Air’s official booking channels.
