Dusit Thani Kyoto has been awarded two Four-Star
Ratings in the 2026 Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards, recognising both the hotel
experience and its integrated wellness offering within the same evaluation
cycle. The hotel secured its second consecutive Four-Star Rating following its
initial recognition in 2025, while Devarana Wellness received a Four-Star
Rating for the first time.
Opened in September 2023 as Dusit’s first luxury
property in Japan, Dusit Thani Kyoto positions itself as a serene urban retreat
combining Thai-inspired hospitality with Japan’s tradition of omotenashi. The
property emphasises thoughtful design, personalised service, and an approach
that integrates well-being and sustainability into the guest experience.
Recognition across hospitality and wellness
The dual recognition highlights the hotel’s
operational model, which places the stay experience and wellness offering on
equal footing. Devarana Wellness blends traditional Thai therapies with
Japanese healing rituals, reflecting the property’s cross-cultural concept.
“These latest distinctions reflect the steady progress
our team has made in delivering service that feels thoughtful and personal
across both the hotel stay and our integrated well-being experience,” said
Makoto Yamashita, Cluster General Manager, Dusit Thani Kyoto and ASAI Kyoto
Shijo. “For us, modern luxury is not about excess. It is about care, cultural
understanding, and the confidence to act with intention.”
Culinary philosophy rooted in seasonality
The hotel extends its experience-led concept to
dining. Culinary offerings focus on seasonality and craftsmanship, including
the omakase experience at Kōyō and the signature Thai restaurant Ayatana.
Mindful sourcing forms part of the operational philosophy, supported by
collaborations with Ohara Farm and the hotel’s tea farm in Wazuka.
Expanding presence in Japan
Beyond Dusit Thani Kyoto, the group operates ASAI
Kyoto Shijo. Dusit’s footprint in Japan is set to grow further with the planned
opening of WE Hotel Lake Toya – Dusit Collection in Hokkaido, marking the
brand’s first Dusit Collection property in the country.
The Forbes Travel Guide recognition builds on previous
international distinctions, including Michelin Key acknowledgements and
rankings in regional luxury hotel awards.
