Delta Air Lines has released its 2025 “Delta
Difference” Report, outlining how the company’s long-term focus on employees,
customers and communities continues to shape its business performance and
future strategy. The report highlights investments in safety, employee
well-being, operational efficiency and sustainable aviation technologies as
Delta enters its second century of operations.
According to the airline, strong employee engagement
and customer trust remain central to its business model. Delta also emphasized
continued investments in infrastructure, leadership development and healthcare
support for employees.
Profit sharing and employee investment remain central
Among the key figures highlighted in the report is the
company’s latest profit-sharing payout of 1.3 billion US dollars. Since 2015,
Delta says it has distributed a total of 11 billion dollars to employees
through profit-sharing programs.
The airline also announced a four percent increase in
base pay and an additional 67 million dollars distributed through its Shared
Rewards Program.
“When Delta people show up for our customers and each
other — every flight and every day — we deliver truly meaningful value,” said
CEO Ed Bastian. “Our commitment to people isn’t just good hospitality, it’s a
competitive advantage. And as Delta enters its second century of flight, we’re
focused on building the airline of the future for all of our stakeholders.”
Delta further noted that it is expanding internal
career pathways and leadership development opportunities through a skills-based
talent strategy that places greater emphasis on experience and practical
capabilities rather than formal educational qualifications alone.
Investments in safety and employee well-being
The report also details major investments in
safety-related infrastructure and equipment upgrades. This includes a 25
million dollar investment in new cooling equipment aimed at reducing
heat-related risks during ground operations.
Employee health and wellness programs were also
expanded. New initiatives include a 24/7 telemedicine app, additional
family-planning support, mental health resources and an enhanced employee
assistance program.
According to Delta, these measures are intended to
improve employee well-being both at work and in everyday life.
Operational efficiency and future aircraft concepts
Sustainability and operational efficiency remain
another major focus area. Delta said it exceeded its target of reducing fuel
burn by one percent through operational improvements, saving approximately 45
million gallons of jet fuel compared to projected consumption levels.
The airline stated that it became the first U.S.
carrier to achieve these savings solely through operational measures rather
than fleet renewal.
Delta is also working with aerospace companies Maeve
Aerospace and JetZero to explore next-generation aircraft concepts designed to
improve fuel efficiency by up to 40 and 50 percent respectively.
The company said its broader sustainability and
corporate responsibility strategy remains an ongoing process and pointed to its
continued transparency efforts through annual corporate responsibility
reporting.
