Delta continues to expand its Delta Sync Wi-Fi
platform, providing fast, free onboard connectivity for SkyMiles Members across
a growing number of domestic and international routes. Since the launch of the
service in 2023, more than 160 million customer sessions have been recorded
across over 1,200 equipped aircraft worldwide.
The airline’s connectivity network now covers most
transatlantic routes to Europe, Latin America and Africa, while full
trans-Pacific coverage is expected to come online later this year. Delta says
the platform is designed to create a more personalized digital experience
throughout the journey, both onboard and beyond the flight itself.
Personalized entertainment and multi-device access
Delta Sync Wi-Fi allows SkyMiles Members to connect
multiple devices during their journey, including smartphones, tablets and
laptops. Customers can stream content, browse the internet, answer emails and
access real-time travel information free of charge after logging into the Delta
Wi-Fi portal.
The platform is also integrated with Delta Sync
seatback, the airline’s connected inflight entertainment system currently
available on around 450 aircraft. The system combines entertainment, tailored
recommendations and live trip updates within a single interface designed to
resemble a smart TV experience.
According to Delta, customer feedback shows higher
overall satisfaction levels among passengers using Delta Sync Wi-Fi during
their journeys.
Expanded partner content onboard
Beyond internet connectivity, the platform
increasingly serves as a hub for entertainment and partner offers. SkyMiles
Members can access streaming content and trial offers from brands including FOX
One, Paramount+, YouTube Premium, Crunchyroll and The New York Times.
The airline is also expanding its entertainment
portfolio with live sports, television programming and anime content, allowing
passengers to continue selected partner subscriptions even after the flight.
Customers who are not yet members of the SkyMiles
loyalty programme can register free of charge before travelling.
Global connectivity strategy continues
Delta says its long-term connectivity strategy focuses
on pairing aircraft with the most suitable onboard technology in order to
ensure stable coverage and operational reliability across the fleet.
From 2028 onwards, Delta plans to introduce Amazon Leo
satellite connectivity on its aircraft. The low-latency, high-speed technology
is expected to further improve onboard digital services, including streaming,
file sharing and personalized customer experiences on both domestic and
international flights.
The airline says the new satellite infrastructure is
designed to maximise performance while reducing maintenance requirements across
the fleet.
