Air Europa has announced plans to relocate its
operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport to the New Terminal One,
marking a significant step in the carrier’s expansion strategy in the New York
market.
The move will coincide with the opening phase of the
new terminal in 2026 and is intended to strengthen connectivity between the
United States and Spain while enhancing the passenger experience on
transatlantic routes.
The New Terminal One forms part of the Port Authority
of New York and New Jersey’s USD 19 billion redevelopment programme for JFK
Airport, one of the largest airport transformation projects currently underway
in the United States.
Strengthening the New York–Madrid connection
Operating from its hub at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas
Airport, Air Europa currently serves 55 destinations worldwide and offers daily
nonstop flights between New York and Madrid.
The airline is part of the SkyTeam alliance and will
become the eighth SkyTeam member carrier operating from the New Terminal One.

the New Terminal One, strengthening our position as the terminal of choice for
international airlines serving New York,” said Jennifer Aument, CEO of The New
Terminal One at JFK.
Richard Clark, CEO of Air Europa, described New York
as one of the airline’s most strategic markets.
“Welcoming our passengers in this new terminal is a
clear reflection of our dedication to this route and of our ongoing efforts to
provide the highest standards of comfort, efficiency and overall travel
experience when flying between the Americas and Europe,” he said.
More than 20 international airlines confirmed
Air Europa joins a growing group of more than 20
international airlines that have selected the New Terminal One as their future
base at JFK.
Other carriers planning operations there include Air
France, KLM, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Saudia and Ethiopian Airlines.
The first phase of the terminal project is expected to
open in 2026 with new arrivals and departures halls and an initial set of 14
gates. Once fully completed, the New Terminal One will cover 2.6 million square
feet with a total of 23 gates, making it the largest terminal at JFK Airport.
Project developers say the terminal aims to achieve a
five-star Skytrax rating and will focus heavily on modern passenger facilities,
operational efficiency and sustainability.
