International air connectivity to Spain continues to
expand. According to the latest report by Turespaña, airlines have scheduled
12.8 million seats on inbound international flights for May 2026. Compared with
the same period in 2025, when 12 million seats were offered, this represents a
year-on-year increase of 7 percent.
Key European markets drive growth
Among Spain’s main source markets, the United Kingdom
shows the strongest growth, with seat capacity rising by 7.7 percent. Italy and
France also record solid increases of 7.3 percent and 2.2 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, Germany regains momentum, posting a 1.9 percent rise in available
seats for May.
The Nordic markets continue their positive trend, with
Denmark standing out at a projected growth rate of 10.2 percent.
Strong momentum from long-haul and emerging markets
Beyond Europe, several markets are expanding faster
than the overall international average. The United States records a significant
increase of 8.4 percent in seat capacity. Belgium and the Czech Republic are
also expected to outperform the overall growth trend for May.
Particularly notable is the continued acceleration of
Turkey and Poland, both of which project growth rates well above 30 percent,
confirming their increasing importance as source markets.
Ibero-American markets expand steadily
In Latin America, Colombia and Mexico account for the
highest volumes of scheduled capacity. Colombia shows a 4.2 percent increase,
while Mexico records a stronger rise of 9.6 percent for May 2026.
Overall, the data highlights sustained demand for
travel to Spain across both traditional and emerging markets, reinforcing the
country’s position as one of the leading global tourism destinations.
