Vietnamese travellers are among the most enthusiastic
adopters of artificial intelligence for travel planning in Asia. This is one of
the key findings of the Agoda 2026 Travel Outlook Report, which shows that 81
percent of travellers from Vietnam are likely to use AI when planning their
next journey. The figure is the highest in Asia, where the regional average
stands at 63 percent.
Although the technology is still in an early stage of
adoption, attitudes towards AI remain largely positive. According to Agoda’s
study, 86 percent of Vietnamese travellers either trust AI-generated
information or feel neutral about it. While 59 percent say they take a neutral
stance, 28 percent state that they actively trust the information provided by
artificial intelligence. This openness suggests significant potential for wider
adoption as AI-powered travel tools become more accessible and familiar.
Digital transformation accelerates AI integration
Vietnam’s rapid digital transformation and its
expanding technology ecosystem are driving the integration of AI into everyday
life. From work and education to shopping and entertainment, digital tools are
becoming increasingly embedded in daily routines. Travel planning is no
exception.
Among Vietnamese travellers who already use AI, the
most common applications include recommendations for local attractions and
activities as well as suggestions for restaurants and dining experiences. The
report also shows growing interest in personalised travel itineraries and
real-time language translation, both cited by 30 percent of respondents. These
patterns indicate a clear demand for smarter and more personalised travel
experiences.
Commenting on the findings, Lam Vu, Country Director
Vietnam at Agoda, said:
“It is impressive to see how open Vietnamese travelers
are to applying technology to their travel journeys. This strong interest in AI
reflects a broader mindset of curiosity, efficiency, and personalization. As a
digital travel platform, Agoda continuously invests in innovating our
technology to deliver seamless, intuitive experiences - empowering travelers to
explore the world in ways that suit their own preferences, pace, and style.”
With more than six million accommodation options,
130,000 flight routes and 300,000 activities available within a single booking
platform, Agoda aims to support Vietnamese travellers as they explore new
destinations in 2026. The company relies on intelligent technology designed to
simplify travel planning and tailor each journey to individual preferences.
